BESIX is looking for a Crane & Lifting Supervisor. Based in our head-office in Brussels but travelling frequently abroad (up to 50% of your time), this role will contribute to the forecasting and planning of lifting equipment and labor for our International Business Unit. This person will ensure that internal and external activities are delivered in a timely manner and meet contractual and project schedule requirements.
Reporting to the Director Plant & Equipment and working in close collaboration with BESIX Project Managers, Engineers, Site Superintendents, Planning engineersyou will play a crucial role for the business and be a key player with internal and external stakeholders including client representatives, supplier representatives and sub-contractors.
Your responsibilities will be as follow:
- Coordinate, plan, schedule and forecast Heavy Lift works as well as establish priorities, sequences, and required delivery dates;
- Take the lead in the engineering of complex lifting operations and realize the lifting plans;
- Supervise the assembly and disassembly of special lifting equipment like high rise TC’s, personnel hoists etc;
- Supervise complex lifting operations abroad;
- Ensure labor and equipment demands are met within set time frames by liaising with the relevant internal teams and external subcontractors if required;
- Provide advice, service support, technical or functional or safety information to internal (tendering & methods teams) and business partners;
- Contribute to the review and improvement of processes or systems as appropriate;
- Answer queries from internal and external stakeholders regarding expediting issues and resolve any areas of concern;
- Work cooperatively with others to accomplish company goals, including aiding other teams if required;
- Give training for riggers and crane operators;
- Follow up TC's certificates, TC's operators, Banks men/Riggers certificates;
- Follow up the lifting equipment (certificates and proper use of the lifting equipment);
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and suggest improvements / changes to the process;
- Ensure continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance and compliance to laws, regulations and industry standards/codes in partnership with the HSSEQ department;
Functie-eisen
- You have relevant experience in the domain of special lifting operations and various types of lifting equipment with the emphasis on tower cranes;
- You are willing to travel frequently (up to 50% of your time);
- You have good communication and interpersonal skills;
- You possess strong time management skills;
- You have good reporting skills;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel);
- You are fluent in English and you have a good/professional level in French and / or Dutch. Any other language is an asset;
- You are a team player and have experience in guiding / steering other people;
- Any experience with giving trainings or with instructional background is an asset;
- Any experience as an internal quality auditor is an asset;
Holder of or willing to acquire in short notice following certifications:
- Operator licenses for mobile, crawler and tower cranes;
- Training certificates for Lifting and Rigging supervisor;
- OEM training certificates (Terex, Potain, Liebherr,.);
- VCA, OHSAS,;
