- University student with at least 2 yrs of studies completed in statistics, mathematics, computer science or mechanical/automotive engineering with high interest in data science and physical modelling
- You have a European EEA citizenship. (not requiring a visum to work in Belgium)
- You must be a student for the entire duration of the internship
- Open personality and able to work independently in a multi-cultural business environment
- Python knowledge is essential, Jupyter notebook is a plus, Matlab/Simulink knowledge is a nice-to-have
- Highly motivated to develop skills in data analysis, model development, Python, Matlab/Simulink, MS Office
- Basic powertrain and vehicle dynamics background are valued assets
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking), able to summarize and explain complex technical information in a clear and visual way

Your team and your responsibilities:
**Division description:
**As part of TME R&D organisation, the Powertrain (PT) Division is responsible for local development of powertrains for vehicles built in one of the TME Production plants, for planning and research of new European technologies and trends in the European technological battlefield as well as for development support towards TOYOTA Motor Corporation (TMC) in key areas including Fuel Cell technology, electrification, data science (big data) and connectivity.

Our activities are not limited to product or technology development but include development and implementation of methodologies or processes through Model Based Design (MBD).

**Your project:
**Understanding the real-world usage of future electrified vehicles such as Fuel cell (FCEV), Battery (BEV) or Hybrid (HEV) Electric Vehicles, is essential for optimal design and sizing of their powertrain. You will contribute to the development of a virtual routing tool, whose purpose is to generate realistic vehicle boundary conditions (speed, slope, etc.) from high level inputs (trip start & end locations). These boundary conditions will then be used in vehicle simulation models to evaluate the powertrain performance.

More specifically, you will:

- Analyse driving data of real vehicles in the market
- Propose improvements to the virtual routing tool
Create, validate models (physical and/or data-driven) and draw conclusions, propose further development needs
