Director Mining

**Location**:Antwerp, Belgium (preferred)

**Positioning**:This position reports to the VP Geology & Mining

**Role Purpose**:
Provide overall strategic mining support to the VP Geology & Mining in all matters related to mining economics, to ensure best decisions on mining development at Sibelco sites, in order to optimize and effectively mine full Reserves.

**Responsibilities**:
**1) **Mining Economics**:

- Present the associated risks and actions to reduce it.
- Understand, plan, implement and report audits to Reserves and Mining.

**b) **Prepare, implement and execute overall mining effectiveness**:

- Balance short-term decision making with long-term value creation.
- Improve mining selectivity and better mining sequences in order to increase value.
- Define Mining KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for regular monitoring reports.
- Based on data, understand the orebody, the flowsheet and the constraints, and identify the opportunities to overcome them.
- Report how we are monitoring our production sites through reconciliation controls (model to mining; mining to plant; plant to customer)

**2) **Operational Support and Safety**:

- Identify opportunities and propose actions to optimize mines to ensure continuous improvements.
- In collaboration with the Mining and Geotechnical team (Operations and Sustainability), revise and propose changes to mine and project planning.
- When required, collaborate with other teams to investigate and analyse occurred incidents to manage geotechnical risks.

**3) **Mine Planning**:
**a) **Revise, contribute and propose improvements to mine planning activities, both on the short and long term**:

- Implement an overall strategy for mining and production planning
- Minimize operating and restoration costs

**b) **Based on geological and financial analysis, evaluate the operating scenarios of the extraction sites and propose those with the best returns. In particular**:

- Contribute to the Resources Development team on mine studies of undeveloped assets, preparing mine and production plans.
- When required, collaborate in the evaluation of mining projects (active and non-active operations)
- Revise, challenge and propose changes and actions to improve short
- and long-term mining plans across the different business (dry mining, dredging, open pits and underground).

**About you**:

- Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Mining Engineering or other relevant field is essential.
- Additional qualifications in Finance, Business Administration or equivalent by experience is an advantage.
- English - advanced verbal & writing
- Local language of the country of base and main operations - proficient verbal & writing
