Function
As a Secondary Systems Expert, you develop your expertise in asset management, which is part of the electricity transmission grid infrastructure.
This position includes the following main tasks, in close collaboration with the relevant departments:
Establishing and updating technical concepts relating to remote control equipment (RTU/DCS, mini-RTU, Multiprox, bay computers, etc.) installed at Elia substations.
Establishing and updating standard signals exchanged between Elia substations and dispatching via management of the corresponding databases (REF Signal).
Integrating the REF Signal in Engineering process 61850 and optimising this process.
Establishing and updating technical concepts relating to voltage regulation in and between substations.
Participating in the future development of the ‘Virtual Substation’ concept for the remote control part.
Participating in purchasing procedures related to the acquisition of this equipment.
**This position also includes the following tasks**:
Managing the assets of our installations, which consists of collecting the necessary knowledge relating to the various devices and systems, technical phenomena, possible anomalies or aspects of low voltage equipment (such as controls and protections, diesel and batteries, telecoms, etc.) both by analysing feedback and through external contacts, in order to acquire and retain the necessary expertise.
Developing risk reduction plans and the spare parts policy to control risks of equipment obsolescence.
Developing the technical requirements of the low voltage equipment, participating in multidisciplinary teams responsible for analysing the bids in accordance with the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) principle.
Analysing and checking the operation of the low voltage equipment in a laboratory environment, according to the framework agreements (acceptance tests), after an incident, feedback from the field or technological monitoring.
Using IT tools to support the various aspects of asset management in practice and submitting proposals to improve monitoring.
Supporting the organisation of projects, among other things, by establishing the technical standards, concept notes and guidelines to be applied in ELIA investment projects and providing advice to project engineers.
Participating in internal, national and international working groups as an expert.
Developing and giving technical training courses to operational entities.
Acquiring the necessary technical expertise in this area is essential to be able to carry out the aforementioned activities.
Your Profile
Civil or industrial engineer, specialised in electricity or electromechanics.
You speak and write fluently in French and/or Dutch and English.
You have sound knowledge of electricity and are ready to develop your expertise in the areas related to new technologies and their impact on control systems.
Specific experience in remote control, protocol IEC 61850 (ed 2), or IT/OT tools is a major asset.
You approach your tasks and responsibilities autonomously, proactively and efficiently.
You are pragmatic and result-oriented, but can also develop more conceptual ideas.
You work transversally, in close collaboration with all departments and the different profiles concerned.
You listen to others’ points of view, and constantly seek the best solution in the general interest. You can be decisive when necessary, but always in a reasoned manner.
Your communication is clear and tailored to the target audience.
You can work with IT tools and are willing to learn how to use Elia’s asset management tools.
