About the role

You will be responsible to improve the Lhoist global logistic performance, by challenging our current practices in the areas of product storage, shipping, transportation and distribution, developing processes and performance metrics, in a continuous and sustainable manner.

In order to identify potential opportunities for logistic optimization, you will review and assess the Group’s logistic current practices and costs by exchanging with the regional professionals. Based on your diagnostic, you will lead and/or support the regions in the implementation of innovative and cost effective concepts and solutions, with an emphasis on improving or developing enhanced solutions for exports and sea shipment.

You will create and animate a Lhoist Logistics Community of professionals with the aim to improve collaboration, exchanges and best practices sharing.

You will also support the Group in assessing the impact of new technologies on logistics, promote and drive initiatives in that field as well as contribute to other ad-hoc projects requiring logistics expertise (Geographical expansion projects,).

As a Senior Manager Logistics Sea, you will report to our VP Procurement & Supply Chain Europe and be part of the Procurement Europe team. You will need to develop a highly efficient collaboration with numerous internal contacts and external stakeholders through the development of insightful analyses and actionable recommendations, combined with the use of strong influential skills.

The new corporate Logistics position is created with the aim to optimize the Group’s logistics performance, bring more value to our customers and make it a long-term competitive advantage for the Lhoist Group.

Your role and responsibilities:
- Group logistics performance- Thoroughly assess the Group current Logistics models & practices, benchmark internally and externally, identify opportunities for optimization and/or innovative concepts & solutions-
- With a focus on exports and sea shipment, define areas for improving our logistics performance, driving cost optimization and customer satisfaction up, identify and summarize initiatives at the various operations, and identify best logistic solutions for the regions and Group-
- Support/lead the implementation and track the savings from implemented initiatives-
- Develop plans and set goals to reduce carbon emissions associated with shipping, transportation & distribution activities (f.i. Intermodal transportation)-
- Logistics community collaboration and best practices sharing- Gather and consolidate shipping, transportation, warehousing best practices across the Group-
- Set up an efficient global community of logistics professionals and other relevant functions to improve global coordination and facilitate the exchange of best practices and idea sharing-
- Work alongside the Community to identify best logístical solutions, influence the implementation of new practices and ensure higher standards of customer satisfaction and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership)-
- Propose logistics optimization solutions to Supply Chain and Sales organizations-
- Provide expertise in the field of sea shipment (regulatory,) by leveraging on internal expertise and/or external network to support-
- Support Group expansion in new geographies on logistic concept & solutions design-
- Technology & data- Assess the impact of new technologies in the field of shipping, transportation and distribution as well as warehousing, develop a transportation digital roadmap and promote innovation in the logistics fieldAbout you:
- A master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent background. Studies in the Logistics field are considered a plus- 10+ years of experience in Logistics management (export & sea shipping and dry bulk material is highly desirable). Demonstrated business and technical mindset- Proven ability to operate autonomously, with strong influential skills and ability to interact at all levels of the organization and in different cultural environments- Experience in sea shipping, terminals design and project management with an up-to-date knowledge of modern logistics solutions- Experience in driving initiatives across a global footprint- English proficiency- Ch
