Our client is a preclinical stage biotechnology company developing its own technology platform for the treatment of all diseases caused by amyloid fibers, ie diseases characterised by the presence of insoluble protein deposits in tissues - the main organs affected are liver, kidney, heart, gastrointestinal tract, skin, peripheral nerve and eye and the central nervous system - the company’s first target is Amyloidosis, a severe disease that can evolve into the functional impairment of affected organs. Other amyloid fibers mediated diseases include Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, type 2 diabetes or biofilms, and several other rare and severe diseases.
In 2021, the company successfully completed a €18.3 million Series A financing round. This funding is carried out by Noshaq with the backing of Mérieux Participations, Sambrinvest and other private investors, and non-dilutive funding from DG06.
As the team is growing, our client is looking for an “R&D Scientist - protein engineering”, based in Liège (Belgium):
Your role
- Investigating molecular mechanisms to ameliorate the impact of toxic protein aggregates in amyloid mediated diseases.
**Profile**:
We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements:
- Ph.D. with experience in Protein design/ Protein biochemistry/ protein and lab engineering
- A deep level of knowledge and hands-on experience in antibody discovery and/or engineering (different antibody formats, engineering antibody conditional binding or Fc function)
- Strong technical skills in molecular biology, antibody display technology, cell culture, protein expression and purification, and biophysical characterization
- Experience acquired in an industry setting is expected as a plus.
- Motivated to work in the laboratory and providing support and training across most experimental procedures.
- Quality conscious attitude
- Proactive and creative mind to solve scientific problems.
- Excellent communication, capable of developing good working relationships with individuals across organizational boundaries, and experience in working within a team environment.
