**Job Description**:
Background

The fight against climate change increases the need for more efficient energy use. Switching from conventional lighting to connected LEDs is one part of the solution.

Lighting makes up 13% of global electricity consumption and 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Phasing out energy inefficient lighting like the incandescent light bulbs and halogen lamps and switching to energy-efficient LEDs can have significant environmental benefits.

Simply replacing inefficient conventional lighting with LEDs would reduce energy consumption by a remarkable 53% and making the system intelligent could further improve savings up to 80%.

Although LED lighting is a standard for new buildings for almost 10 years, we estimate that up to 50% of existing lightpoints have not yet been updated to LED. The speed of ledification varies between segments and unfortunately, we see that universities often lag behind in their ambition.

Scope

We need your help to understand why this is the case so we know how to inspire this segment to do things differently. This means we want you to research the segment of higher education in Belgium and Netherlands. But it’s not just research, we want you to help us with your knowledge to build a value proposition that fits this market and also come up with a plan on how to do business development for this segment.

Key questions:
- What does the DMU look like?- What is the awareness of the potential of smart lighting?- What is the awareness of alternative financing in case budgets are limited?- But also, is this topic discussed beyond the facility manager? How do students and staff look at the sustainability of the buildings they work in? How important is this for them?
