**Expert Spent Nuclear Fuel - Reactor/neutronenfysicus**
**Context**
NIRAS bereidt zich voor op de toekomstige overdracht van het beheer van de bestraalde splijtstof van de kerncentrales naar NIRAS. Daartoe is NIRAS op zoek naar een uitbreiding van haar team met een expert op het vlak van bestraalde splijtstof. De kandidaat die we zoeken zal de nodige technische en wetenschappelijke kennis en ervaring aanleveren voor de karakterisering van de bestraalde splijtstof. Deze karakterisering is nodig om het langetermijnbeheer van de bestraalde splijtstof te garanderen en om de expertise rond bestraalde splijtstof verder uit te bouwen. Door middel van interacties met de uitbater van de kerncentrales en de houder van de splijtstof zal NIRAS inzicht krijgen in de eigenschappen van de splijtstof bij productie en tijdens en na bestraling in de reactor. Ook zal NIRAS de achterliggende methodologieën (berekeningen, metingen, codes, ) moeten doorgronden. Uiteindelijk moet dit het team in staat stellen om simulaties van de reactorcycli, neutronentransport
- en depletieberekeningen op niveau van de splijtstofassemblages en simulaties van het thermomechanisch gedrag van de splijtstof correct uit te voeren. De resultaten van deze simulaties dienen gevalideerd te worden door middel van destructieve en niet-destructieve analyses die NIRAS laat uitvoeren door gespecialiseerde laboratoria.
Dit alles kadert binnen de toekomstige verantwoordelijkheden van NIRAS naar opslag van de bestraalde splijtstof en het voorbereiden van het verdere beheer, in het bijzonder de finale berging.
**Verantwoordelijkheden**
Als expert Spent Nuclear Fuel werk je mee aan de kennisopbouw en aan de karakterisering van de bestraalde splijtstof van de kerncentrales met het oog op het langetermijnbeheer ervan. Dit omvat zowel het input leveren aan de ontwikkeling van een langetermijnoplossing, het voorbereiden van de toekomstige vergunningsaanvraag en het in stand houden van deze kennis voor de toekomstige generaties.
Meer concreet heb je de volgende taken:
- Je neemt actief deel aan de interacties met de verschillende stakeholders (zoals de uitbater van de kerncentrales, onderzoeksinstellingen, de veiligheidsautoriteit, ) en werkt samen met hun technische teams om de overdracht van kennis te garanderen.
- Je bent verantwoordelijk voor de simulaties nodig om de radiologische inhoud en de thermomechanische toestand van de splijtstof te bepalen.
- Je identificeert welke studies en testen noodzakelijk zijn om de resultaten van deze simulaties te valideren, inclusief budget en middelen, en onderbouwt de behoefteanalyse met gefundeerde argumenten. Je plant en coördineert de projecten in samenwerking met derde partijen die je hebt geselecteerd. Je beheert de voorziene middelen en het budget.
- Je evalueert de verkregen resultaten en overlegt met de andere collega’s van NIRAS om ze te integreren in het geheel van de programma’s.
- Je draagt bij aan het ontwikkelen en onderhouden van de databank en voert controles uit op de data.
- Je onderhoudt een netwerk van contacten met externe deskundigen, zowel op nationaal als op internationaal vlak (studiebureaus, universiteiten, gespecialiseerde bedrijven, onderzoekscentra, expertenplatforms...).
- Je volgt actief de state-of-the-art evoluties in het domein op en volgt nieuwe informatie, trends, patronen,... op de voet.
**Je profiel**
- Je beschikt over een diploma van (burgerlijk) ingenieur, of master/doctoraat fysica of equivalent door ervaring, met een specialisatie in het nucleaire.
- Je spreekt en schrijft vlot Nederlands of Frans en bent bereid om je kennis van de tweede landstaal verder te ontwikkelen. Je beheerst het Engels voldoende om professioneel te kunnen communiceren op internationaal niveau.
Indien je geen Nederlands of Frans spreekt, heb je een vlotte beheersing van het Engels. Bovendien ben je bereid je kennis van het Nederlands en/of Frans op korte termijn te ontwikkelen.
- Je hebt ten minste tien jaar ervaring op een gebied dat relevant is voor de functie. Ervaring binnen het R&D-gebied of bij de uitbating van een kernreactor is een.
- Je kan met enkele reactor/neutronenfysica rekencodes, zoals Serpent2, MCNP, ORIGEN/SCALE, ALEPH2, FRAPCON, WIMS, PANTHER,
- Je kan multidisciplinaire technische en wetenschappelijke aspecten integreren en combineren met het administratieve dossier
- en gegevensbeheer.
- Je hebt een analytische geest die gepaard gaat met een strikte, methodische en pragmatische aanpak. Je kan tot een concrete, doelgerichte en efficiënte synthese en uitvoering komen van de nodige acties en taken.
