**YOUR TASKS**

We are seeking a researcher to contribute to policy-oriented research on the geopolitical dynamics between China and Europe. The role involves:
1. Writing three policy briefs on:

- Chinese diplomacy in Europe and its neighboring regions
- The implications of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for Europe
- Chinese security and defense challenges for Europe

2. Supporting the organization of a roundtable event with policymakers and experts to discuss the research findings.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct independent research and draft policy-oriented reports within a strict timeframe of 2.5 months.
- Analyze geopolitical developments and translate complex data into actionable policy recommendations.
- Collaborate with consortium partners to ensure consistency and quality in project deliverables.
- Assist in the logístical and content preparation of an international roundtable event.

**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
- You hold a thesis-based doctorate in International Relations, Geopolitics, Sinology, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of geopolitical and economic relations in the Indo-Pacific region, with a focus on China and the EU.
- Strong analytical and writing skills, with a proven track record of policy briefs and academic publications.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of Dutch and/or Mandarin is an asset.

**WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU**
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 3 months.
- Your contract will start on 1/02/2025 at the earliest.
