**About the role**

The European Medical Strategy Lead axSpA will provide medical & scientific strategic input and expertise for the European Immuno-rheumatology teams. The role will provide medical strategy leadership for investigational/approved agent BKZ for axSpA and will play a key role in the launch preparation and execution from a medical affairs side in partnership with Global, Area, and Cross-Functional Teams such as market access, marketing, regulatory, learning and development.

EU Medical Strategy lead will be accountable in driving Medical strategy at EU level with focus on the **EU** **Bimzelx launch in axSpA** - strategy to execution and impact, but **also overseeing Medical Operations, **and medical impact across all rheumatology with a focus in excellence in real world evidence generation strategy development across rheumatology indications. axSpA medical strategy lead will also lead real world evidence strategy lead and ensure that RWE project plan is in line with EU rheumatology strategy.

He/she will play a key role in co-creating and driving at EU level therapy area (TA) medical strategy, Evidence Generation, Medical Education strategy and scientific communication strategy via EU medical insights and will also proactively contribute to the overall cross-functional asset strategy, by translating science into value for patients, health care community and the organization, and will provide regional medical strategic direction to the European Area Medical Teams.

Priority will be to act as the key external scientific partner that interacts with key EU Medical associations such as ASAS, FOREUM, EUROSpA, EULAR and related top international KOLs in rheumatology. Core content of discussions will be identifying unmet medical needs, elevation of standard of care, UCB assets and other topics which are of scientific / developmental importance to UCB in rheumatology and immunology so we inform the strategy via highest level EU insights.

EU Medical Strategy Lead axSpA is a budget holder for all EU related axSpA Medical activities and is accountable E2E for the execution of the strategic plan, in partnership with medical operations lead rheumatology Europe, Missions and EU Areas, to ensure a sustainable performance of UCB in the field of axSpA and Rheumatology.

axSpA Medical Strategy Lead Europe is a senior medical role for a profile with well established external network, preferably EU / multi country experience and proven track record in rheumatology/launches that possess excellent judgment, integrity, decisiveness, and the ability to provide and communicate the company´s' strategic vision to external and internal audiences.

**What you’ll do***
- Driving EU medical Strategy in axSpA/rheumatology and translating Global Medical strategy for BKZ at EU level, in an E2E manner - connected with impact and execution, including evidence generation plans, updates to the scientific communication platform, development of the scientific communication plan and delivery of a robust medical affairs plan for all assets
- Contributes to launch preparation activities for assets in development in the therapy area
- Drives scientific engagement with selected relevant key external stakeholders and partners
- Expand UCB’s scientific network of external axSpA stakeholders and overall rheumatology thought leaders / researchers towards partnership for UCB, to ensure understanding of the evolving disease and treatment landscape and to develop appropriate solutions to meet the evolving needs of external stakeholders.
- Proactively engage and be a key contributor to the overall Immunology Medical Affairs community within the organization, key member of the EU Crossfunctional team axSpA/SpA, EU Strategic Operations and a leader within iEU Medical community
- axSpA EU Medical Strategy Lead is an independent thinker who can manage ambiguity and devise solutions when no other obvious or clear path exists. Proven skills in developing, implementing, and executing strategic plans and the ability to identify potential opportunities for UCB from a medical standpoint will be critical to the success of this role. A good understanding of their cross-functional team priority would be an additional profile asset.

- Fosters authentic peer scientific/medical engagement with international external experts across Europe, professional societies, payers and patient advocacy groups that require high level of expertise, experience and for complex collaboration projects
