**Data Scientist voor het Belgisch Klimaatcentrum en de dienst 'Meteorologische en Klimatologische Informatie'.**
Het **Koninklijk Meteorologisch Instituut van België (KMI)** is een federaal wetenschappelijk instituut dat weer
- en klimaatdiensten levert en onderzoek doet op het gebied van meteorologie en klimaat. In het kader van zijn opdracht verstrekt het aan het publiek, bedrijven en de overheid klimaatinformatie voor heel België, op basis van gevalideerde meetgegevens afkomstig van verschillende waarnemingsnetwerken. De **Meteorologische en Klimatologische Informatiedienst** is verantwoordelijk voor deze activiteiten. Daarnaast speelt **het Belgisch Klimaatcentrum** een rol in de coördinatie en kennisoverdracht van Belgisch wetenschappelijk klimaatonderzoek
- en gegevens naar stakeholders uit de beleids, publieke en private sector. Het doel van deze twee diensten is om historische klimaatgegevens van hoge kwaliteit te leveren die ons in staat stellen om de klimatologische veranderingen die in het verleden hebben plaatsgevonden te evalueren en hun evolutie in bijna-realtime op te volgen.
Deze twee diensten zijn op zoek naar een enthousiaste wetenschapper met als hoofdtaak het produceren van gehomogeniseerde klimatologische reeksen van temperatuur en neerslag over heel België sinds het begin van de metingen in het KMI.
**Opdrachten**
- Uitbreiding van de bestaande gehomogeniseerde reeksen op maandelijkse schaal op basis van verschillende homogenisatietools in samenwerking met de leden van de Meteorologische en Klimatologische Informatiedienst.
- De mogelijkheid bestuderen om gehomogeniseerde dagelijkse reeksen en/of representatieve regionale reeksen voor België te ontwikkelen.
- Het coördineren van de overdracht van gegevens naar (en het vergemakkelijken van de uitwisseling van informatie tussen) het Belgisch Klimaatcentrum, de Meteorologische en Klimatologische Informatiedienst,de verschillende betrokken departementen en externe stakeholders.
- Het ondersteunen van de administratieve taken die bij de functie horen.
**Uw profiel**
- Een masterdiploma in wetenschappen of toegepaste wetenschappen (wiskunde, fysica, geografie, burgerlijk ingenieur, bio-ingenieur, milieuwetenschappen, enz.), **hetzij behaald in de Benelux of met een bewijs van gelijkwaardigheid van het behaalde diploma van de Vlaamse (NARIC) of Franstalige (CFWB) autoriteiten,**:
- Een goede kennis van het Engels, naast één van de Belgische nationale talen,
- Basisvaardigheden in programmeren in R of Python en databasemanagement (SQL),
- Een sterke interesse in milieuwetenschappen, en in het bijzonder meteorologie en klimatologie,
- het vermogen om in teamverband te werken.
