Position description
MRM Health is looking for **Team Leader** to join its Translational Research Team in Ghent, Belgium, and translate pre-clinical and translational research into novel and differentiating products and, ultimately, breakthrough microbial strategies for the treatment of conditions associated to impaired intestinal health.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Development of relevant, robust _in vitro_ assays for the whole portfolio, across disease areas
- Manage a team of scientists in their daily work and planning for timely delivery of quality assays & data
- To achieve the above, understand mechanisms and pathways in diseases of interest and how the microbiome could impact disease evolution. Look at the interplay between host and microbiome in disease and translate into relevant _in vitro_ models.
- Propose and develop disease relevant _in vitro_ models to investigate host-microbe interactions. Deliver high quality assays for screening purposes, look both into internal and external options
- Work independently to define, develop and implement new _in vitro_ and _ex vivo_ assays to study mechanisms underlying the efficacy of microbial interventions in the treatment of a variety of disorders, analyse the ensuing data and present results.
- Write or support project proposals as required.
- Work across interdisciplinary teams and parallel projects in the design and development of microbial therapeutics.
- Present proposals, data and interpretation to project teams and management.
- Create a team environment supporting growth and development of your team members
Required Qualifications
- You have a PhD in biological sciences or equivalent with ≥5 years post-doc or industrial experience.
- You are knowledgeable in disease mechanisms and pathways of inflammatory, metabolic, or neurodegenerative diseases.
- You are a team player and have experience working in multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix organization.
- You have experience in managing other scientists and pay attention to the personal development of team members.
- You have hands on experience with development of complex cell based _in vitro_ or _ex vivo _assays or _in vivo_ models.
- You are well organized, a good communicator and have good interpersonal skills.
