YOUR TEAM

Within the Network Management Directorate, the Infrastructure Division manages the European infrastructure deployment projects and programmes, and aims at making the SES digital sky a reality. It develops, organises and provides European common services including network support services, aeronautical information services and the radio frequency function.

YOUR ROLE

Your role will be to:

- Influence system development to ensure that Dual Frequency, Multi-Constellation (DFMC) GNSS, including DFMC Ground Based System Augmentation (GBAS), Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) and Advanced RAIM (ARAIM) are operationally suitable to support the European air transport network while actively contributing to their evolution. Additionally, lead or participate in associated validation activities.
- Engage in close collaboration and communication with European GNSS Programmes and associated institutions (European Commission DG MOVE, DG DEFIS, EUSPA, EASA, ESA, etc.) to address aviation-related topics. Share expertise and insights to obtain their interest and buy-in.
- Develop GNSS standards in the ICAO Navigation Systems Panel, RTCA / EUROCAE Working Groups and other relevant groups such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UN International Committee GNSS, European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI), etc. including identifying requirements, objectives, etc.
- Develop contract specifications, lead contracted projects and oversee the execution, take a leadership role in ensuring high quality results and outcomes.
- Produce technical reports, working papers, international publications, guidance and educational material using a variety of media formats, and provide training on GNSS to stakeholders.
- Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Completed university studies of 4 years (Master’s degree) in a relevant domain (e.g. Engineering, Aerospace, Geodesy, Data Science, Information Technology, Physics, etc.) or of 3 years plus 1 year relevant professional experience.
- A minimum of 5 years’ relevant professional experience acquired in the aviation industry or in an aviation industry-related government role.
- Experience working on several of the following areas:

- Signals and modulation techniques, spectrum aspects.
- Receiver and navigation system design.
- Radio signal propagation, multipath, atmospheric effects.
- Development or operation of GNSS systems (ground and space segments).
- GNSS system testing and simulation.
- GNSS interference mitigation techniques.
- Experience in a technical role related to aviation (avionics or aircraft manufacturing, air navigation service provision, navigation data provider, technical staff of an aircraft operator or MRO facility, etc.).
- Experience in policy development.
- Project Management skills.
- Stakeholder management skills, preferably acquired in a European / international context.
- Technical writing skills (English).
- Effective presentation skills.
- Analytical thinking: You analyse information and are able to identify relationships.
- Communication: You are able to foster two-way communication.
- Influencing: You tailor your style and approach to influence others.
- Networking: You know how to maintain and expand effective networks.
