From early warning, to threat neutralisation, our platforms cover all levels from very short-range systems, to extended protection across the entire battle-space including Airspace Mobility Solutions, Vehicles and Tactical Systems and Missile Defence, Optronics, and Radar.
Thales Belgium SA, Belgium competence center of Thales, is a company located on 2 sites, one in Tubize (near Brussels) and the other one in Herstal (near Liège). Thales Belgium, which employs more than 280 collaborators, is specialized in the design, development and supply of critical information systems for customers in the sectors of Defense, Security (including Cyber) and Aerospace.
**Mission**:
As an Engineering Applications Architect within the Engineering Department of Thales Belgium (Herstal site), you will:
- Establish the solution architecture by making trade-offs between stakeholder expectations, technical and technological solutions and costs, risks and schedule, document architecture justification in the design and approve the resulting lower-level specifications (internal or external).
- Facilitate collaborative work across teams and stakeholders.
- Provide the best engineering solutions for customers, being in close touch with them and being the quality guarantee of the engineering solutions provided to the customers.
- Translating needs into requirements and building the development strategy.
- Contribute to the future products and solutions of Thales group.
- Work on complex, disruptive and stimulating projects.
You will report to the Head of Engineering. You will have a wide scope of work and collaborate closely with different teams (Sales, Bid&Project, Product Design Authority, Development, Testing and Quality) to ensure that Thales meets its ambitious market development roadmap with the highest level of agility and customer satisfaction.
**Profile**:
- You graduated with a Master of Engineering or Computer Science or in University, and you have significant experience in architecture and engineering systems
- You are a leader willing to develop business opportunities through the use of collaborative work and challenging approaches
- You are responsible and show a great sense of initiative
- You want to delight your customers and build strong relationships
- You have good communication and relationship skills
- You sound convincing and persuasive
**Competencies**
- You are familiar with some of the following topics : platform integration, autonomous system, vehicle and aircraft bus standard (CAN-bus, MIL-STD-1553), ethernet, radio data link, real-time operating system, safety standards for airborne and ground system (DO-178, DO-254, ISO2626), simulation tools and model-based-design.
- You are familiar with operational analysis.
- You are able to work in co-engineering (Lean Thinking, Obeya...) and with Agile methodology.
- You understand the different actors involved in the project and are able to contextualise and change the perspective (political, economic, social, technical, environmental, legal...).
- You are able to lead and manage technical engineering projects, meeting the requirements with a clear view of the risks and opportunities.
- You are able to engage and influence a diverse set of stakeholders as well as creating clear and achievable goals.
