IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

**Context**:
The Labour Mobility and Human Development (LHD) Unit of the IOM Regional Office in Brussels oversees regional activities in the area of (i) labour mobility, (ii) migration and development, and (iii) migrant training and integration.

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Regional Labour Mobility and Human Development Specialist (LHD RTS), the Regional Policy and Programme Assistant will contribute to the daily work of the LHD Unit. He/she will support the LHD RTS in the development and review of IOM projects, and in the liaison with EU Institutions on IOM policies and activities in the LHD thematic area.

**Core Functions / Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the review, endorsement process, and tracking of project proposals developed by IOM Country Offices in the region, if and when delegated by the LHD RTS;
- Assist in the review of narrative donor reports submitted by IOM Country Offices in the region, if and when delegated by the LHD RTS;
- Support the LHD RTS in the implementation, monitoring and reporting on EU community actions and centrally funded/managed projects, in compliance with the EC administrative, legal and procedural requirements;
- Support the LHD RTS in thematic knowledge sharing and regional knowledge management efforts, including through the participation in production and maintaining of knowledge management tools;
- Undertake research and data collection on current migratory situation and future prospects and trends, relevant to IOM LHD activities in the EU;
- Support the LHD RTS in monitoring EU policy developments in the LHD thematic area;
- Assist in liaising with IOM Country Offices on projects, policy issues and matters related to LHD project development and resource mobilization;
- Assist in identifying donors’ priorities, strategies and related funding opportunities at the European institutional level in the thematic areas of LHD;
- Assist with drafting public information documents, presentations, website articles and reports on IOM activities, for internal and external distribution;
- Assist in the preparation and organization of meetings and events (such as conferences, workshops, trainings) in coordination with appropriate Regional Office and Country Office staff;
- Provide administrative support to the LHD Unit, including the drafting of meetings reports and minutes, routine correspondence, as well as IOM documents and forms related to IOM operational and administrative matters;
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

**Required Qualifications and Experience**

**Education**
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Political Science, Social Science, International Relations, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience;
OR
- High school degree from an accredited institution, with five years of relevant professional experience

**Experience and skills**
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge on migration issues;
- Good understanding of EU migration policies, financial instruments, institutions, and decision-making mechanisms;
- Demonstrated experience in project development and implementation in an international environment;
- Knowledge and experience in policy development and research is an advantage.
- Strong analytical thinking, organizational, and communication skills;
- Ability to work independently against tight deadlines;
- Excellent writing, editing and reporting skills.

**Languages**

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
