**Requirements**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **MySQL Server Management**:

- Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of our MySQL databases through robust monitoring, proactive maintenance, and timely resolution of issues.
- **Database Lifecycle Management**:

- Manage the entire lifecycle of MySQL databases, including provisioning, scaling, backup and recovery, and decommissioning as needed.
- Implement and maintain effective backup and disaster recovery strategies to protect against data loss and ensure business continuity.
- Plan and execute MySQL server upgrades and patch management activities in accordance with best practices and industry standards.
- Coordinate with development teams to ensure compatibility and minimize downtime during upgrade processes.
- **Performance Tuning**:

- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks through careful analysis, tuning of queries, indexing strategies, and configuration optimizations.
- **High Availability and Replication**:

- Implement and maintain high-availability solutions for MySQL databases, including replication, failover, and clustering, to ensure continuous availability and uptime.
- **Linux Administration**:

- Utilize Linux server administration skills to manage the underlying operating system environment for MySQL servers, including configuration, security, and performance optimization.
- Is accountable, a proactive problem solver, and design a plan for long-term projects.
- Is proficient with Linux server administration, including installation, configuration, security (mainly RedHat derivatives).
- Is proficientwith high-availabilitydatabase lifecycle management principles, including provisioning, scaling, replication, failover, upgrades, backup and recovery, and decommissioning.
- Is obsessed by squeezing out the last bits of performance by selecting the hardware and tuning operating systems, database engines (especially InnoDB), queries, and indexes.
- Enjoys maintaining scripts in Bash and/or Python to automate boring tasks.
- Has experience with working in close collaboration with developers.
- Follows-up on latest improvements on databases (MySQL 8 InnoDB, RocksDB, PostgresSQL, DuckDB,...).
