**This is a 3 year Fixed Term Contract position based in any IFAW office location**
**Staff work a hybrid schedule with 2 days/week in the office**

**Role and Responsibilities**
- Advise IFAW on methods available for quantifying organizational impacts in addressing climate change, and working closely with Program Directors and partners/contractors as necessary, quantify the contribution of IFAW’s project portfolio to climate change mitigation and adaptation;
- With the support of IFAW’s Climate Neutrality Working Group, lead the development and implementation of an organizational-wide climate change strategy, focused on GHG emissions reductions and climate-friendly practice to transition IFAW to become a climate neutral organization, including supervision of reporting to the UN Climate Neutral Now initiative.
- Advise the organization on the climate finance landscape and opportunities to align IFAW projects with climate funding opportunities.
- Assist the Institutional Giving Team and project teams in drafting related funding proposals;
- Advise the organization on relevant policy developments in the climate field, working closely with the Director of International Policy, and Country and Regional teams to identify policy and advocacy opportunities at national and international levels. Serve as the IFAW focal point to the UNFCCC;
- Ensure high quality, internal communication within the organization, and work with Communications, Program and Regional/Country staff to ensure consistency in external organizational messaging, advocacy and campaigning on climate change;
- Represent IFAW externally to build positive relationships and partnerships with NGOs, government officials, funders and other key stakeholders on climate change;
- Represent IFAW to supporters and institutional donors as necessary, with a view to encouraging their continued and increasing financial support of IFAW;
- Supervise consultants and interns, ensuring tasks are being fulfilled to project scope and responsibilities and within budgets.

**Qualifications and Education Requirements**
- Graduate degree in biological, social science, public policy, international relations, economics or related field, or equivalent experience;
- 5 years of experience working in the field of climate change: mitigation, emission reductions, climate finance, adaptation/resilience, ideally through biodiversity and natural resource management lens;
- Understanding of Nature-based Solutions and the strategic mainstreaming / inclusion of conservation in climate change solutions;
- Demonstrated established networks within the global climate change community.
- Understanding of carbon accounting methodologies, experience with carbon credit markets a plus;
- Understanding of and experience of working through the UNFCCC system;
- Excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, including report writing, briefing documents, fundraising proposals, etc.;
- Comfortable communicating with senior-level stakeholders from governments and political decision-makers, international agreements and institutions, business, finance, and civil society;
- Highly effective interpersonal skills, demonstrating diplomacy and sensitivity with people from varying educational, social and cultural backgrounds and adept at working collaboratively, with both internal team members and external partners;
- Organized, self-motivated and able to work independently, with good project management skills and an ability to manage a sizable workload and prioritize appropriately;
- Understanding of international conservation/animal welfare issues, organizations and networks desirable;
- Experience and willingness to travel internationally;
- Fluent in English; proficiency in multiple languages a plus.

Pay: €75,000.00 - €93,000.00 per year
