For Biocartis as an organization, it is important to have the people in place who can make the company’s strategy happen. The Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in orchestrating this.
The key mission of the Accounting Manager is:
- to develop a ‘functional powerhouse' with highly capable resources, and
- to operate as the process owner of efficient and effective business processes.
The Accounting Manager’s primary role is talent, competence and resource management. He/she is an expert in his/her respective discipline.
In this way, the Accounting Manager will make sure that his/her function performs at the best of its ability by having talented and trained resources and effective and efficient processes in place.
**Scope of the position**
The Accounting Manager is a member of G&A department, more specifically the finance operations team.
Responsible for interim and annual financial accounting, consolidation and (internal/external) reporting according to applicable regulations and reporting obligations. The internal go-to person for corporate income taxes, indirect taxes and levies.
Manages and facilitates proper functioning of the accounting team (includes separate functions for amongst others accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger) and required interactions with the business control team.
The position is based in Mechelen (Belgium), the company’s headquarters.
**Accountabilties**
The role includes, but is not limited to, the following accountabilities and responsibilities:
- Accountability for leadership of the accounting team incl. amongst other establishing a resource and competence plan in line with the company strategy, product roadmap, company objectives and budget;
- Managing, overseeing and balancing resource allocation; makes sure that the projects are equipped with strong people;
- Leading all operational aspects of the function while continuously striving for performance improvement and effectiveness;
- Operate as the process owner of efficient and effective business processes of the respective functional team;
- Cascading company objectives within the accounting team.
In this respect, the Accounting Manager is responsible for and the internal go-to person for Biocartis’ accounting system, related internal processes and controls and day-to-day accounting operations. This includes:
- General accountabilities:_
- (Monthly) closings;
- Consolidation;
- Implementation of IFRS regulations and reporting;
- Management of audits by external auditor
Updating, improving, expanding and controlling of internal accounting systems, for Biocartis Group and its subsidiaries (currently located in Belgium and in the US) as well as a joint venture in China in close collaboration with involved auditors.
Ensuring internal control processes in support of the accounting systems, with the intent of moving towards compliance with the COSO 2013 framework.
Preparing, planning and safeguarding of a diligent execution of all periodic accounting financial closing activities, including accounting controls and reconciliations for each of the relevant Group entities.
Supervision of periodic group consolidation activities for all Biocartis entities in compliance with amongst others IFRS reporting, in consultation with external advisors when needed.
Supervision on preparation of formal financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement) with supporting schedules and notes in compliance with international and local financial reporting standards, and this on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis as per company and regulatory requirements.
Supervision of preparations, execution and safeguarding of interim and annual external audit reviews.
Safeguarding compliance with all (in)direct tax (Income tax, VAT, import/export duties, royalty and dividend withholding taxes, levies) obligations and reporting requirements.
In charge of preparing annual and periodic income tax declarations and analyses in close collaboration with external tax advisors.
