**RESPONSIBILITIES**

This is your task package:

- You will be part of the Trait Design Leadership team reporting directly to the Head of Trait Design.
- As Group Leader, you will lead our Screening group with ca 10 direct reports and lead a competitive expertise platform that delivers on Research Projects at competitive cost, time and quality.
- As Group Leader, you will run processes of people and team development, including performance management as well as career development and you will ensure that your team is compliant with all existing safety, stewardship and quality standards.
- You will manage human, scientific, infrastructure & financial resources, review resource demands and staff allocation to R&D projects in consultation with the Program Leaders.
- You will develop a technical / digital innovation view that enables or accelerates the Screening processes or makes these processes more effective/efficient and translate these into projects with critical milestones.
- You will advise on research strategy by providing technical input to the planning and decision-making process and coordinate execution of agreed research strategy.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- You have a PhD (or equivalent through experience) with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in leading teams.
- You have minimum of 10 years lab experience in relevant aspects of (single) cell and or insect-based screening methods as well as more classical molecular biology assays
- In your field of expertise, you keep abreast of new developments, and convert these into technical innovation plans and expert innovation strategy contributions.
- You can advise on research project strategy by providing technical and digital input.
- You have strong people management skills, including multi-year experience in developing and coaching researchers and technicians.
- You are known for your strong project
- and stakeholder management skills.
- You have up-to-date knowledge on feasibility, timelines and cost of plant biotechnology R&D processes.
- You are known for your pragmatism, hands-on mentality and strong team leadership and social skills.
- You have experience in workforce planning and prioritization.
- You have an innovative mindset in process/efficiency improvement.
- You have strong networking skills, are able to set up an external network.
- You have strong communication and presentation skills.
- You have advanced computer skills and an affinity for specialized software and databases.
- You are fluent in Dutch and English, both orally as well as in writing.
