The Institute of Development Policy (IOB) is looking for a **part-time (40%) Research Communications and Project Manager**

to join the ERC-funded Starting Grant project “InfoCitizen” (101076030) from November 2023 until June 2028. InfoCitizen will conduct innovative research on the citizenship practices and technologies coalescing around model initiatives to produce and circulate data in the Global South. We aim to creatively develop a global ethnography that engages interdisciplinarity, applied networks, and multi-methods (archival, digital, audiovisual, and quanti-qualitative) to unveil the politics and poetics of informational citizenship across top-down and bottom-up data ecosystems in Brazil, Portugal, Germany, Kenya, and Tanzania.

**Position**

As research communications and project manager, you will work to ensure the effective delivery of the transnational 5-year research project alongside the postdocs, Ph.D. students, and research fellows.

You will
- be a valued and critical member of the InfoCitizen team and work together with other administrative staff within IOB, in Antwerp.
- be a key contact point and connection between academics, project partners, and participants in Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Tanzania, and Kenya.
- oversee the digital presence of the project, including supporting the population of the website, social media dissemination, and liaising with media outlets.
- support science communication initiatives of the project, including the work of presentations and publications (authorship will be given if a substantial contribution to the direction/argument of the piece is made).
- be involved in arranging and organizing key events and interactions (including discussions of themes, speakers, etc.). You will also provide administrative and financial support for their implementation.
- be part of all conversations and decisions regarding the project and be trained with the team..
- provide administrative support for financial and scientific reporting.

The Project Manager will work closely with the PI, Prof. Moisés Kopper, the Research Team, and other IOB staff to ensure the efficient and effective overall running of the project. Specific duties will vary but include:

- Acting as a conduit for communications between the research team (based in Antwerp as well as Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Tanzania, and Kenya);
- Engaging in team discussions and decisions regarding key project activities and milestones;
- Supporting website content development and the social media presence of the project, including news items;
- Supporting project dissemination and the creation and delivery of presentations, creative workshops, and publications;
- Supporting the Research Team in arranging key events and interactions;
- Providing technical support to the day-to-day operations of the project, including redirecting problems to the appropriate resource when necessary;
- Organizing, as part of the team, key events, including discussions of themes, speakers, and project seminars;
- Supporting recruitment of new members of the team;
- Supporting financial and scientific reporting to the funding body, participants, and broader interested public (including via media outlets);
- Monitoring and reporting of project milestones and deliverables in accordance with EU deadlines;
- Supporting the PI and the other administrative staff of IOB in the project's daily finance and budget;
- Ensuring a GDPR-compliant use of all personal data;
- Maintaining a list of risks and key incidents and reporting any abuse or emerging risks to relevant people/bodies/authorities;
- Other duties as required by the post.

**Profile**
- A Master’s degree;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English;
- Experience in the science communication and/or management of research projects;
- Exceptional organizational and IT skills;
- Demonstrable experience in managing websites and active social media accounts;
- Experience in writing for various audiences, including the media;
