Team
We are looking for a creative and smart team player to join our Commercial Legal team in EMEA, with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience in an international law firm or an equivalent in-house position in a multinational corporation, who is passionate about making an impact and contributing to the transformation of our business in the same way as helping our clients to be successful.

You will act as deputy for the head of Nordics, France, and the Middle East; provide legal advice and act as a trusted legal leader, dealing with escalations, deal strategy and develop relationships with business, delivery and supporting functions across these geos. Be part of the strategic deals team, providing strategic advice on bid deals across geos outside of the Americas.

**Role**
- You will be part of the Strategic Deal Team and provide internal sparring and advice to deal lawyers as well as serve as point for legal escalations. If needed, you will assume negotiation of large deals as well.
- Your responsibilities with respect to the Strategic Deal Team will include improving ways of working, collaborating with the legal lead of Strategic Deal Team in North America to align on market standards, approach to client requirements etc.
- You will play a vital and strategic role in this regard and will work closely together with senior management within the Strategic Deal Team.
- Further, you will be an integral part of the CE legal team and serve the local business both in terms of existing service lines and new growth areas, but you might also be involved in the operations of other areas or jurisdictions, such as UKI, Nordics, Middle East, or CE.
- You will be expected to develop and maintain your relationships with the business leaders in your local geo and other jurisdictions. Your focus will be local law, but you might also be required to give generic advice in relation to other countries and depending on the needs of the business, you may be required to travel to other locations in the course of your duties, especially in connection with negotiations of large deals.
- Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting, negotiating, and interpreting a wide variety of commercial issues and transactions, varying in nature, complexity, and value, from a simple NDA or a consultancy contract to a multi-million-dollar technology or business outsourcing agreement.
- With respect to deal within your local geo, you will be responsible for the legal review and negotiation of commercial agreements with clients in a broad range of industries and work on all phases of deals, ranging from the proposal/bid review stages, right through to final negotiation, escalation to senior Cognizant leadership and dealing with any post signature issues.
- Other responsibilities include assisting with disputes, corporate transactions and integration activities and promoting strong corporate governance and risk mitigation practices, as well as advising on ad-hoc issues that arise daily and liaising as necessary with other members of the legal team and other corporate functions

**Requirements**:

- While experience with negotiating large IT and Outsourcing contracts as well as commercial law experience is essential to this role (at least 10 years of experience), you must also have a commercial mindset and able to communicate, draft and negotiate commercial contracts in English.
- Your experience in working on IT contracts, advising on GDPR and IP related issues must be accompanied by the ability to balance legal risks with commercial and operational needs of the business.
- You should be able to demonstrate strong, effective, and impactful communication skills and be able to communicate with people at all levels and backgrounds, being able to multitask with rapidly changing priorities in a dynamic working environment and have strong organizational skills.
