WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a senior member of the growing Insights Data Science team in Bain’s Advanced Analytics Group, you will:
- Work with AAG leadership to build out our Insights Data Science capabilities in EMEA
- Collaborate closely with and influence business consulting staff and leaders as part of multi-disciplinary teams to assess opportunities and develop data driven solutions for Bain clients across a variety of sectors
- Translate business objectives into data and analytics solutions and, translate results into business insights using appropriate descriptive, exploratory and predictive modeling and hypothesis testing
- Partner closely with product leaders at Bain to support development of innovative analytics solutions and products
- Provide thought leadership in state-of-the-art insights analytic techniques
- Help develop Advanced Analytics intellectual property and identify areas of new opportunity for data science and analytics for Bain and its clients
- Lead recruiting and onboarding for insights data science talent
- Ensure standards and guidelines are being used by team to develop re-usable common frameworks, model and components that address repeatable tasks and problem/data sets in specific industries or business functions
- Share learnings and drive adoption of best demonstrated practices with your teammates in AAG about theoretical and technical developments in the rapidly evolving data science field, collaborate with the open source community, and work together to create a great working environment that attracts other great data scientists
- Keep abreast of new and current insights data science techniques and technologies
- Participate in expert advisory activities that required deep expertise in insights domain
- Work with consulting teams to understand business problems, translate them into data science projects and appropriately prioritize and execute
- Be an expert advisor in proposal discussions
- Act as an ambassador and coach towards insights teams at our clients and partners to raise their capabilities and ensure that our work is successfully deployed
ABOUT YOU
**We are looking for someone who has**:
- Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Math, Statistics, Econometrics, or Social Sciences
- 10+ years of experience in analytics
- 3+ years of experience managing data scientists
- Track record of leading and collaborating on strategic initiatives; consulting experience a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain and discuss analytic approaches with colleagues and clients from other disciplines
- Ability to collaborate with people at all levels and with multi-office/region teams
- Deep knowledge of probability distributions
- Deep statistical foundation and knowledge of statistical learning theory
- Understanding of Bayesian methods and probabilistic graphical models
- Experience with Causal inference and latent variable models
- Extensive experience with linear models and extensions, unsupervised dimensionality reduction and clustering methods and tree-based methods
- Proficiency in Python or R required
- Proficiency in SQL required
- Passion for staying abreast of advancements in ML that have direct impact on Insights e.g. Explainable AI
- Ability to explain and prioritize which, when and how ML methods are applied to drive insights over classical statistical methods
- Ability to guide junior data scientists on where to develop their capabilities to stay current and support Bain’s needs and ambitions
- Strong skills in communicating descriptive analytics using graphics/data visualization, including on slides
- Ability to work independently and juggle priorities to thrive in a fast paced environment, while also collaborating as part of a team in complex situations
- This position will be located in any of these locations - London, Berlin, Munich, Rome, Milan, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Zurich, Copenhagen
- Travel is required (likely 30%)
