Are you passionate about tax for the financial sector? Join BDO’s Tax Financial Services team and help financial institutions and their clients navigate AEOI, QI, FASTER and other operational tax obligations (Belgian withholding tax, tax on stock exchange transactions, tax on securities accounts, net asset tax for investment companies, insurance premium tax,…). You will combine tax expertise with operational and IT collaboration, manage files with growing autonomy, coach junior colleagues and contribute to business development.
What will you be doing?A
- QI/AEOI/FASTERÂ
· You lead end-to-end tax regulatory engagements across advisory, reporting, audit, and outsourcing, acting as the primary client contact and providing technical advice with practical, risk-based solutionsÂ
· You assess the impact of products and processes and design implementation strategies, design and enhance compliance programs, and support clients applying for QI statusÂ
· You prepare, review and correct information returns and withholding tax filings, and manage responses to feedback from tax authoritiesÂ
· You supervise and coach consultants, monitor legislative developments and participate in client alerts, sales campaigns and conferences to explain new requirements and impacts. You will support proposals and continuous improvement initiativesB
- OPERATIONAL FINANCIAL TAXESÂ
· You draft or review fiscal advisory opinions related to new financial products or new financial services provided in BelgiumÂ
· You monitor legislative or case-law developments relating to financial tax and assist financial institutions to implement new compliance processesÂ
· You review tax returns for BEVEKs/SICAVs (corporate income tax, net asset tax)Â
· You initiate tax claims and apply for advance rulings on financial taxesWhat do you bring to the table?Â
· Master’s degree in Law, Economics, Taxation, Finance or equivalent (additional tax qualification is a plus)Â
· ~5+ years’ experience in taxation and/or tax regulatory frameworks (experience with the AEOI and QI regimes is preferred) in the financial sectorÂ
· Strong tax technical knowledge of tax regulatory frameworks and operational taxes; familiarity with interactions with tax authorities is a plusÂ
· Comfortable with data-driven reporting processes and collaboration with IT teamsÂ
· Fluent in French and English or in Dutch and English. A strong working knowledge of the other national language (Dutch or French) is also requiredÂ
· Client-focused and quality-driven, with emerging coaching capabilities and a developing commercial mindsetWhat do we bring to the table? Â
