Integration & AI Architect (internal role) Architecture, Data & AI, DevOps, Software Development

Are you a seasoned architect passionate about bridging the worlds of Integration and AI?We are seeking an Integration & AI Architect to take on a strategic, hybrid position between our other architect roles. In this unique internal role, you’ll drive enterprise integration strategies and architectures while also shaping our AI architecture and governance frameworks. The emphasis is a 50/50 split: you will ensure robust, secure integration across complex systems, and establish AI governance, patterns, and frameworks that enable responsible and scalable AI adoption. This role demands architectural ownership and strategic oversight – focusing on standards, frameworks, and technology enablement – rather than day-to-day coding or model development. It is an ideal opportunity for an architect who thrives on cross-domain responsibility, helping clients and internal teams build connected, intelligent systems with strong guardrails and strategic vision.

Integration Strategy & Architecture: Develop and define enterprise integration strategies that connect applications, data, and processes across cloud and on-premises environments. You will design scalable integration architectures and blueprints that enable systems to communicate seamlessly using API-led connectivity, event-driven patterns, messaging and iPaaS solutions. You choose the right integration approaches (e.g., RESTful APIs, message queues, streaming, B2B integration) to meet business needs, ensuring each integration is secure, efficient, and future-proof.

Integration Platforms & Governance: Lead the selection and architectural governance of integration platforms (API management, Enterprise Service Bus, etc.) and establish integration standards, patterns, and best practices for consistent implementation across projects. You promote observability and lifecycle management for integration solutions (monitoring, versioning, reliable operations) and ensure that integration architecture decisions align with security, compliance, and performance requirements.

AI Strategy & Architecture: Shape and define the enterprise AI architecture and strategic roadmap for AI adoption. You create reference architectures, reusable patterns, and decision frameworks guiding how and when to apply AI solutions (like machine learning models or AI agents) to real business problems. By providing clear AI architectural patterns and principles, you empower technical teams to integrate AI capabilities into solutions in a scalable, sustainable way.

AI Governance & Responsible AI: Establish robust AI governance frameworks and guidelines to ensure all AI and machine learning initiatives are undertaken responsibly and securely. You define policies and guardrails for the AI model and agent lifecycle - covering aspects such as model evaluation, deployment strategies, version control, monitoring and feedback loops, and decommissioning. Your focus is on AI ethics, risk management, security, privacy and regulatory compliance (e.g., aligning to standards and emerging regulations) and ensuring these are embedded in our AI solutions from day one.

Thought Leadership & Collaboration: Serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader across the organization. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with other architects, integration specialists, data scientists, and business stakeholders to drive cross-domain alignment. You will translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance, build consensus on architecture decisions, and lead architecture boards or design authority forums. Through coaching and knowledge sharing, you will help delivery teams apply the integration and AI strategies, keeping solutions aligned with the big-picture vision. In presales or strategic initiatives, you’ll articulate how a governed integration backbone and a responsible AI framework together create business value and future-ready digital architectures.

What you need to succeed:

At least 3 years of relevant experience in a role such as Integration Architect, Solution Architect, Software Architect, or a senior engineering role with clear architectural responsibilities.

A good understanding of integration architectures and patterns (e.g. APIs, messaging, event‑driven integration, microservices), and how they are applied in real‑world enterprise contexts.

Familiarity with enterprise integration platforms and cloud-based integration concepts, with the ability to reason about trade‑offs, standards, and long‑term impact.

A strong interest in AI architecture, governance, and responsible AI, with a working understanding of: AI and ML concepts, AI risks, ethics and compliance considerations, the role of architectural guardrails, patterns, and decision frameworks

The ability to think architecturally and structurally, balancing long‑term vi
