These are strategic technological projects based on collaborative initiatives that stand out for their international focus and a strong commitment to socially oriented results. /p pWe are looking for an experienced bDatabase Engineer /b to join an international environment supporting critical grant management systems used by bEuropean institutions /b and stakeholders. /p pBased in bBrussels (hybrid, with regular on-site presence) /b, you will design, develop and optimise the databases behind large-scale platforms covering grant agreement preparation, project monitoring, reporting and payments. Working within a multicultural, agile team, you will collaborate with developers, architects and business stakeholders, leveraging AI coding agents to accelerate delivery while ensuring security, performance and quality. /p h3bWhat you'll do /b /h3 ul liDevelop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models that represent business requirements and ensure data integrity. /li liDesign performant, secure and scalable database schemas, tables, views, indexes and relationships. /li liWrite and optimise DDL scripts for different database management systems. /li liDevelop and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions and triggers. /li liTranslate user and application requirements into efficient database structures. /li liPrototype database solutions (schemas, queries, test datasets) for validation before production rollout. /li liDesign and execute test plans for database components, including unit tests and data integrity tests. /li liTroubleshoot performance issues, tune queries and implement indexing strategies. /li liImplement database security policies, access controls and data encryption. /li liDesign and implement data migration, backup, recovery and high-availability strategies. /li liSupport the deployment, configuration and release management of database components. /li liWrite technical specifications for AI code agents (e.g. Kiro) and review their outputs for correctness, security and performance. /li liWrite technical documentation. /li /ul h3bWhat we're looking for /b /h3 ul liUniversity degree corresponding to Level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework (typically a Bachelor's degree or 3 years of higher education) and minimum 7 years of professional IT experience, or a secondary education diploma giving access to higher education and minimum 12 years of professional IT experience. /li liProven experience as a Database Engineer, Database Developer or similar role. /li liGood knowledge of SQL and procedural SQL extensions such as PL/SQL (Oracle) or PL/pgSQL (PostgreSQL). /li liExperience in data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) with tools such as Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler, Hackolade or NoSQL Workbench. /li liGood knowledge of non-relational databases (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, Cosmos DB). /li liKnowledge of performance optimisation (query tuning, indexing, execution plans). /li liExperience with backup, recovery and high availability (replication, clustering). /li liGood experience with database release management and Agile practices (Scrum, Kanban) applied to database delivery. /li liKnowledge of data security and compliance practices. /li liAbility to write clear, structured technical documentation and present to different types of stakeholders. /li liEnglish or French language proficiency at B2 level or higher. /li /ul h3bNice to have /b /h3 ul liKnowledge of database unit testing frameworks (utPLSQL, SQLTest). /li liExperience integrating AI coding tools (e.g. Kiro, GitHub Copilot) into development workflows, with awareness of their limitations. /li liExperience with grant management or large-scale public sector systems. /li liPrevious experience working within European Institutions or large international organisations. /li /ul h3bWhat
