Senior Azure NoSQL Database Engineer

ACENSI BELGIUM is looking for his client a Senior Azure NoSQL Database Engineer Context Within the DAE (Data & Architecture Engineering) team of the Infrastructure & Operations department, our client is strengthening its database services capabilities to support its cloud transformation roadmap. While the current team has strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, the objective for 2027 is to build and industrialize a new Azure NoSQL platform based on Cosmos DB. Our client is therefore looking for a senior engineer who will act as the internal subject matter expert, drive the implementation of Cosmos DB services, and transfer knowledge to the existing DBA team. The working language is English.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design, implementation and adoption of Azure Cosmos DB services.
• Define and implement production-to-non-production refresh and data replication mechanisms.
• Establish best practices for NoSQL architecture, governance and data modelling.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize Cosmos DB workloads.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and operational procedures.
• Design backup, recovery and resiliency mechanisms.
• Contribute to Azure platform management, security and cost optimization.
• Develop automation assets and reusable deployment modules.
• Promote DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices within the DBA team.
• Coach and mentor junior and medior DBAs on NoSQL concepts and operational processes.
• Produce documentation, runbooks and knowledge transfer materials. Required Skills Must Have
• Strong experience with Azure Cosmos DB or another enterprise-scale NoSQL database platform.
• Solid database engineering background (SQL or NoSQL).
• Hands-on experience with: o Data modelling. o Performance tuning. o Monitoring & observability. o Troubleshooting & root cause analysis. o High availability and disaster recovery.
• Experience in Microsoft Azure environments.
• Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python or equivalent).
• Good understanding of DevOps principles. Strong Asset

Ideal Profile An experienced Azure Cosmos DB Engineer who can not only build and operate the platform, but also establish the NoSQL capability within a SQL-centric DBA team through mentoring, standards definition and operational excellence. The role is approximately 65% engineering/build, 35% support, coaching and governance.
