E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation) Technician – Automation focus

Context
The Clean Utilities department manages and ensures the continuity of all electrical installations and utilities. The team is responsible for preventive/corrective maintenance, improvement projects, and supporting production and quality processes. To maintain operational reliability, the department seeks an experienced E&I Technician to join the team, with a path toward integration into the on-call system after an onboarding period.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical installations, control panels, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), instrumentation, and PLC systems (Siemens S7).
Respond quickly and effectively to technical failures to minimize production downtime.
Actively participate in continuous improvement and technical optimization projects.
Perform tasks and complete documentation according to GMP, safety, and quality standards.
Serve as the technical point of contact for operators and production leads regarding electrical and instrumentation issues.
Support production with minimal disruption during maintenance activities.
Follow the CMMS (Infor – Datastream) for maintenance scheduling and documentation.
Inspect, test, and maintain low-voltage distribution panels (up to 400V), emergency power systems, lighting systems, PLC-controlled systems, and more.
Assist with calibration, validation, and qualification of new or modified instrumentation.
Collaborate closely with other departments (production, quality, engineering) and external contractors.

Requirements
Education: Technical school diploma (secondary level in Electromechanics or similar required); bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience also considered. Further training in instrumentation is a strong plus.
Experience: Minimum 3 years as an E&I Technician in industrial or pharmaceutical settings. Proven hands-on experience with:
Low-voltage electrical installations and cabinets
Process instrumentation and sensors
PLC systems (Siemens S7)
Preventive and corrective maintenance
GMP-regulated environments (a strong asset)
Certifications:
BA5 (low voltage electrical qualification) – required
VCA (Safety for Contractors) – required or willingness to obtain
Languages:
Dutch (fluent, written and spoken) – required
English (able to read technical documentation) – preferred

Technical Skills Required
Reading/interpreting electrical diagrams and P&IDs
Use of measurement tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.)
Knowledge of VFDs, motor drives, PLC programming (Siemens S7) and HMI basics
Familiarity with instrumentation protocols (4-20mA, HART, Profibus, etc.)
Experience with CMMS systems for maintenance planning/documentation
