InfluenceMap is a globally recognized non-profit think tank driving change on climate and sustainability. We produce cutting-edge, objective research on how businesses and finance impact the climate crisis, working collaboratively across corporate, finance, public, civil society, and media sectors. We are seeking a Brussels-based analyst to support our Europe-focused research efforts and help us reach EU policymaking institutions and other key stakeholders that are critical to the development of climate and nature policy in the region.
InfluenceMap is best known for the LobbyMap platform, which analyses corporate advocacy and policy engagement activities on climate change and biodiversity loss. Our work has been featured in the media globally, used by hundreds of investors, and informed numerous climate campaigns. Other workstreams are the FinanceMap platform - assessing the climate credentials of the financial sector, and the Carbon Majors platform – which tracks emissions from the world's largest polluters. With offices in London, New York, Tokyo, Seoul, Canberra and São Paulo, this is an opportunity to be part of a team of 70+ friendly and dynamic professionals and to help shape our culture as we continue to grow and evolve as an organization. InfluenceMap's mission is to reform the way that corporate and finance sectors advocate to governments on climate and biodiversity policy. The responsibilities of the position will be two-fold;
- To conduct research on European companies and industry associations, based on our LobbyMap methodology, which assesses the corporate sector on its advocacy and engagement with government policy to address the climate and nature crises
- To help plan and deliver engagements with key stakeholders in Brussels, including corporations, financial institutions, industry associations and EU policymaking institutions
This position represents a critical component of InfluenceMap's theory of change, helping to ensure our platforms and analysis are well understood, widely used, and driving the advancement of science-based climate and nature policies at the EU-level. Our approach is highly data-orientated and involves accuracy, consistency and great attention to detail. Full training in our research methods and how to effectively communicate our results will be provided. You will need to apply analytical rigor, communicate complex ideas clearly, and be able to contribute to innovative engagement strategies to maximize impact with our key stakeholders.
Requirements
To be successful in this role at InfluenceMap, you should have:
- Outstanding analytical and data analysis skills, with a very strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex issues and data-driven analysis convincingly
- Fluency in English (written and spoken), other European language skills beneficial
- Proven outreach and engagement skills, ideally with a year's or more experience of successful stakeholder engagement
- Robust understanding of EU policymaking institutions and processes
- IT and software skills across a range of common applications
- Right to work in Belgium
We are an enthusiastic, highly motivated, mission-aligned team. We are seeking a candidate with a similar outlook. This role would suit a self-starting and ambitious early career analyst/researcher interested in working in the climate change research and advocacy space.

- This is a full-time, Belgium-based role
- Flexible working is possible, but frequent in-person interactions in Brussels are required.
- A remuneration package starting from between €35-40,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience
- Full statutory benefits in accordance with Belgian regulations
