This position will report to the Head of Policy & Advocacy EMEA and will be preferably based in Germany or Belgium. Other locations can be considered, with hybrid workplace.The Thermal and Specialized Solutions (TSS) EMEA Regulatory and Advocacy team leads the regional activities aiming at insuring the long-term sustainability of our present and future product portfolio.The TSS advocacy organization works collaboratively across the business and functions to support business and reputational goals. The Advocacy and Regulatory Technical Manager TSS Europe will support the development of the EU strategy for TSS and is supporting its execution via working groups in trade associations on an EU level as well as National level (e.g. in particular Germany) and by driving technical regulatory and policy projects and events.The position will:Support the development and implementation of technical regulatory advocacy strategies. Focus on TSS interests in diverse regulatory areas: EU REACH, transition to lower GWP solutions within the EU Climate Frameworks (F-Gas, MAC directive, EU Green Deal), etc. and work together with industry partners via technical regulatory working groups in trade associations. The TSS regulatory space has a high degree of technical complexity, where deep understanding of the various applications from a technology is key to be successful.Support TSS public policy advocacy via technical regulatory recommendations in the European Union and EMEA on energy, climate change, decarbonization, electrification, trade, sustainability, and other issues, with input and collaboration from business partners and relevant functions, e.g., Sustainability. Align policy initiatives and activities among Chemours colleagues globally, when advantageous.Participate and drive technical, regulatory and policy events, presenting technical, economical, advocacy arguments supporting TSS present and future portfolio.Monitor, analyse and provide technical counsel on developments in the European legislative, regulatory, political and economic environment and advise management on how these trends may impact TSS’s business interests.Support advocacy and stakeholder engagement with EU Institutional and Member State representatives, specific policy and regulatory agencies, relevant trade and industry associations and other key stakeholders to influence emerging regulations and policy.Contribute to identify, manage and influence relevant Industry Associations in coordination with the team members from Advocacy, GA, Technology and Business Development.This includes:National HVACR Industry Associations, coordinating the efforts with National TSS representativesEU Associations, e.g. EPEE Working Groups on Eco-design, EEE, Refrigerants, RRR ; EFCTC.Build and maintain a strong network of external stakeholders, such as relevant technical policymakers and key technical policy influencers, including industry groups and major value chain players and actively liaise with relevant Value Chain players (OEMs, Business Partners, Technical organizations), to identify and implement common advocacy strategies aiming at supporting F-gases, circular economy and other initiatives aiming at defending and strengthening TSS Freedom to Operate. This may include presenting, training and aligning internal stake holders and external partners.Regularly participate in and represent regulatory advocacy perspective at internal meetings.Work within an international team in the region and globally (Regulatory, Advocacy, Government Affairs, Product Sustainability, Sales, Technology, Communication).Support integrity culture in TSS and model highest standards of behavior in interactions with industry participants and policy stakeholders.Travel time can be estimated at 30%, depending on your locationYour background:Minimum 5 years of experience:Marketing / Technology / New Business Development in the chemical industry. In addition, European Association, European government relations, public affairs, or similar roles would be a clear plus.Ability to quickly grasp technical and regulatory complexity Excellent team player and results oriented. Track record of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams within the organization and customers & partners outside, in an international environment.Solutions oriented mindset, structured, gets things done and on time.Excellent interpersonal, communications and advocacy skills to influence, negotiate and persuade.Experience working with / managing external consultants; team mindset.Interested in the business and driven by contributing to company success. Strong business acumen.Strong drive to make a difference and contribute.Requirements:Fluent English and ideally German: additional European languages are a plus.University degree, preferably master’s level. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree would be a plus. Education (or experience) in thermodynamics would be a plus.Awareness of societal, market, technology and/or regulatory trends for chemistry.
