Job description The tasks of an assistant for a parliamentary body include the following: -helping to ensure, in a multilingual environment, that the committee secretariat operates efficiently (including by preparing for internal and external meetings, receiving and preparing documents and sending them for translation, etc.); -putting documents produced by the secretariat into the correct format in line with current document templates, using dedicated IT applications; -ensuring that documents are available at meetings; -organising public hearings as part of committee meetings, as well as committee missions outside of Parliament’s three places of work; -carrying out documentary searches, particularly with a view to compiling files; -following up requests for information and documentation; -drafting letters and other documents relating to the secretariat’s activities; -word processing, producing tables, managing diaries, handling mail, filing, preparing dossiers, organising meetings and hosting visitors from within and outside Parliament. 3.Job requirements Required knowledge -You should have knowledge of the General Secretariat’s structure, organisation and environment and the various actors involved. -Knowledge of Parliament’s rules and procedures and of the EU legislative procedures would be an asset. Required competences -Have a sense for continuous improvement; -Show flexibility and reliability; -Have a good team spirit and a sense of cooperation; -Be accurate and meticulous and have good organisational and planning skills; -Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks; -Be result-oriented. Work environment -A variable workload, depending on the parliamentary timetable -Frequent contact with people within and outside Parliament -Contact with MEPs’ offices -Occasional travel to Strasbourg 4.Eligibility requirements To be recruited as a member of the contract staff in function group III, you must have at least: i.a level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma; or ii.a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years. You must also meet the following conditions. ·You must be a citizen of one of the Member States of the European Union. ·You must have fulfilled any obligations concerning military service imposed by national laws. ·You must be able to produce appropriate character references demonstrating your suitability for performing the duties. ·You must be able to produce evidence that you have thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the Union and satisfactory knowledge of another language of the Union, to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties. Prior to being recruited, selected candidates whose names are included in the database will be asked to provide documents substantiating the information contained in their application forms (diplomas, certificates and other supporting documents). All diplomas, whether issued in a Member State or in a non-EU country, must be recognised by an official body of an EU Member State, such as a ministry of education. Candidates holding diplomas issued in a non-EU country must provide an EU declaration of equivalence for these diplomas. You can find further information about the recognition of non-EU qualifications on the website of the ENIC-NARIC networks (https://www.enic-naric.net/). The differences between education systems will be taken into account. Examples of the minimum qualifications required are provided in the guide. 5.Inclusion in the database and next steps Your name will be included in the database if you: ·meet the eligibility requirements; and ·have completed the application form via the APPLY4EP platform (see Section 6 (‘How to express your interest’)) in accordance with the procedure and by the deadline. As needs arise, the recruiting services will search the database and shortlist a certain number of candidates who match their requirements on the sole basis of the information contained in the candidates’ applications and the supporting documents provided. If you are shortlisted, you may be invited to tests and interviews organised by the recruiting services. The recruitment tests/interviews are aimed at assessing your suitability for the relevant position and may take the form of a written test (e.g. multiple-choice questions, essay, in-tray exercise, preparation of a summary, etc.). Your language knowledge may also be assessed. 6.How to express your interest To express your interest, you must submit your CV and fill out the application form on the APPLY4EP platform. Expressions of interest must ONLY be submitted via the APPLY4EP online platform. You should therefore begin by creating an APPLY4EP account (if you do not already have one). Note that you can have only one account on the APPLY4EP platform. Once you have created your APPLY4EP account, you should carefully read through this call and the guide annexed to it, then click on the ‘Apply online’ tab in APPLY4EP and follow the steps of the online application procedure. You must first upload a detailed CV in the Europass format (https://europa.eu/europass/select-language?destination=/node/1), then complete the remainder of the application form. You can find additional instructions on how to express your interest in the guide annexed to this call for expressions of interest. The deadline for expressions of interest is 17:00 (Brussels time) on 30 September 2025. Expressions of interest received after the deadline will not be accepted. The deadline may be extended. The European Parliament applies a strict equal-opportunities policy in its selection procedures in order to guarantee that all candidates are given equal treatment. Having your name included in the database or passing an interview and/or a selection test is not a guarantee that you will be offered a job. If a position becomes available, the recruiting service may consult the database and issue invitations to those candidates whose profiles most closely match the requirements of the post in question. Contract staff will be recruited in function group III. The basic monthly salary is between EUR 3 374.39 and EUR 5 529.90 (FG III), depending on the successful candidate’s training and relevant professional experience. This salary is subject to Union tax and to the other deductions provided for by the CEOS. It is exempt from national tax. In certain circumstances, allowances will be paid in addition to the basic salary. Temporary staff will be recruited at grade AST 3, step 1. The basic monthly salary is EUR 4 666.18. This salary is subject to Union tax and to the other deductions provided for by the CEOS. It is exempt from national tax. The step at which the successful candidates are recruited may be adjusted in accordance with their professional experience. In certain circumstances, allowances will be paid in addition to the basic salary. The database will be valid until 31 December 2026.The appointing authority may decide to extend its validity. In this case, the candidates whose names are included in the database will be informed in good time.
