Psychology Teacher  Start Date: August 2026 Eligibility: Candidates must have the right to live and work in the EU. The Role The school is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-centred Psychology Teacher to join its Secondary School team. The successful candidate will inspire students to explore human behaviour, develop critical thinking skills, and apply psychological concepts to real-world contexts. The role involves guiding learners through rigorous academic study while fostering curiosity, analytical thinking, and independent inquiry. Responsibilities Teach IB Psychology and general Psychology at secondary level, delivering structured lessons that develop higher-order thinking, analytical precision, and research literacy.Design full units and daily lesson plans aligned with the IB framework, integrating case studies, contemporary research, ethical perspectives, and inquiry-driven tasks.Promote deep engagement with psychological concepts by encouraging questioning, hypothesis-building, reflection, and critical debate.Differentiate teaching approaches to challenge high achievers while supporting students who need additional scaffolding or targeted intervention.Guide students through internal assessments by modelling research processes, supporting investigation design, and providing precise feedback.Supervise extended research activities, helping students construct arguments, evaluate evidence, and meet IB academic integrity requirements.Lead discussions and debates on biological, cognitive, and sociocultural approaches to psychology, developing critical evaluation skills.Use a range of assessment tools, including formative check-ins, rubrics, reflective journals, and summative assessments aligned with IB criteria.Analyse assessment data to inform next teaching steps and provide timely written and verbal progress reports to students and families.Collaborate with Humanities and Sciences colleagues to design interdisciplinary learning experiences that connect ideas across subjects.Contribute to curriculum development by refining existing units, reviewing assessment strategies, and designing new units that strengthen the Psychology programme.Support academic and pastoral growth by monitoring student wellbeing, addressing concerns, and contributing to advisory or mentor programmes.Participate in staff meetings, professional committees, community events, and whole-school initiatives that contribute to the school mission.Engage in ongoing professional learning through IB workshops, internal PD, peer collaboration, and reflective practice.Promote a safe and inclusive environment by upholding safeguarding expectations and modelling ethical behaviour in all interactions. Candidate Requirements A recognised national or state teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, or equivalent.A degree in Psychology or a closely related field.Experience teaching Psychology at secondary level; IB experience is an advantage.Strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and the IB philosophy.Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.Candidates must already have the right to live and work in the EU, as the school cannot provide visa sponsorship.A commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and maintaining an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
