IBDP English Teacher  Start Date: August 2026 Eligibility: Candidates must have the right to live and work in the EU. The Role The school is seeking an experienced IB Diploma Programme English teacher to guide students through advanced literary analysis, critical thinking, and academic writing. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons that develop deep conceptual understanding while preparing learners for both internal and external assessments. This role requires a reflective, student-centred educator who can inspire confidence, intellectual curiosity, and strong communication skills in a rigorous pre-university programme. Responsibilities Teach IB DP English A Language and Literature or English A Literature, delivering structured lessons that strengthen conceptual understanding and advanced analytical skills.Design DP units aligned with IB course guides and assessment criteria, using diverse literary and non-literary texts from a range of cultures, genres, and time periods.Prepare students for the DP Internal Assessment by guiding oral analysis practice, modelling strong commentary skills, and giving accurate, criteria-based feedback.Support students with DP External Assessments through explicit instruction in academic writing, comparative analysis, essay organisation, and exam-style responses.Develop students ability to apply literary concepts, explore stylistic features, and analyse authorial choices in depth.Differentiate learning to support high achievers, multilingual learners, and students needing additional challenge or structural support.Use a range of assessment tools, including annotated feedback, rubrics, formative checkpoints, self-assessment, peer review, and timed exam practice.Track student progress carefully, analyse performance trends, and provide timely and constructive reports to students and families.Lead seminars, discussions, and collaborative analysis sessions that encourage sophisticated thinking and confident academic dialogue.Integrate TOK links by prompting students to explore interpretation, perspective, bias, and the role of language.Collaborate with DP colleagues on planning, vertical alignment, moderation, and whole-programme development.Contribute to the refinement of English curriculum materials, assessment tasks, and shared departmental resources.Participate actively in DP meetings, internal standardisation, exam preparation, and professional dialogue.Support student wellbeing by maintaining positive relationships, clear expectations, and strong safeguarding practice.Engage in ongoing DP-focused professional development, including IB workshops, collaborative planning, and reflective practice. Candidate Requirements A recognised national or state teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, or equivalent.A degree in English, English Literature, Comparative Literature, or a closely related field.Experience teaching IB DP English A Language and Literature or English A Literature, or preparing students for similarly rigorous pre-university programmes.Strong understanding of the IB Diploma Programme, its assessment criteria, and inquiry-driven pedagogy.Confidence in teaching advanced literary analysis, conceptual understanding, and academic writing.Experience supporting students with DP Internal and External Assessments.Ability to differentiate effectively for multilingual learners and varying levels of literary experience.Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to model high-level communication.Strong organisational skills for managing IAs, deadlines, exam preparation, and departmental planning.Commitment to contributing to the wider DP community and school life.Willingness to engage in IB-recognised professional development and ongoing reflective practice.Eligibility to live and work in the host country, where visa sponsorship may not be available.
