Janssen Research & Development (“JRD”), a Johnson & Johnson company, is recruiting for a Scientist, Data Science - Acoustic Processing Scientist. The location for this position is Spring House, PA; Titusville, NJ; La Jolla, CA; Cambridge, MA; Raritan, NJ; Beerse, Belgium; Leiden, The Netherlands. Remote may also be considered with up to 15% travel.
The Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and Digital Health team within Janssen R&D develops innovative insights and solutions leveraging a variety of different data sources across multiple disease areas. We are looking for outstanding scientist whose responsibilities include:
- Independently design, build, and implement state-of-the art audio/acoustic (e.g., analyzing speech, cough, and other biological sound data) and other bio-signal processing combined with predictive modeling
- Contribute to experimental design and development of analytical plans
- Work with large, sophisticated data sets
- Participate in cross-functional collaborations with external companies and internal scientific and data science teams
- Present analysis in a cross-functional setting, contextualizing how it fits within the broader project
- Contribute to scientific publication, patents, tech reports
- Stay on the cutting edge of the data science, digital health and signal processing fields to invent and customize when necessary
**Qualifications**
Required qualifications:
- A Ph.D. degree (or Master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience) in biomedical science or engineering, biostatistics or statistics, mathematics, computer science and other relevant fields
- Demonstrated experience with audio/acoustic AND other bio-signal processing, machine learning algorithms, exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling is required
- Proficiency with one or more programming language such as Python, Matlab, R, C++, or Java
- Ability to effectively communicate technical work to a wide audience
- Passionate about maximizing data to drive scientific innovation
- Proven scientific excellence, as measured by publications, patents, high-level presentation
- Ability to work in an agile matrix environment
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of video process
- Experience developing and/or testing analytic pipelines and code
- Familiarity with drug discovery and the clinical development process and/ or expertise in one or more therapeutic areas
- Familiarity with the statistical design and analysis of randomized controlled trials and observational studies
