Within BNP Paribas’ CIB division, Debt Markets EMEA gathers a group of 200+ loan (structured and vanilla) and bond (high grade and high yield) professionals located in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Brussels, Amsterdam, Milan, Madrid and Lisbon, covering the bank’s core clients in Europe across all economic sectors. This Debt Markets EMEA platform consists of three main teams: (i) Leveraged Finance Capital Markets (LFCM), (ii) Loan Capital Markets (LCM) and (iii) Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets (IG DCM).

Together, these teams are responsible for the origination, structuring, underwriting and execution of LBO,Corporate Leveraged financings, investment grade bond & loan financings to large corporates, and integrated financing solutions to midcap and sub-investment grade corporate clients. The Structuring and Execution Group supports all these activities.

The Benelux team consists of 20+ Debt Markets professionals creating value for the clients in Benelux and the Nordics.

Your future job

You would be joining the Structuring and Execution Group team based in Brussels. The Structuring & Execution Group is a central component of Debt Markets supporting senior originators across a wide range of debt products on a pan-European basis.

Your responsibility will be to provide deal support to a team of originators from the LCM team. The latter originates and structures all and any kind of debt products (loans and bonds) with investment grade profiles. Key components of the position include financial modelling, credit analysis, due diligence reviews, production of credit
- and capital market memo’s, analyses of credit markets, sector researches and learn to structure Debt Markets transactions. This requires strong quantitative, reasoning and communication skills. You will participate in different (cross-border) deal teams and work on several transactions in parallel, which requires good organisation skills and a commitment to go the extra mile when necessary.

More specifically the Associate will:

- Perform advanced financial statement analysis.
- Prepare thoughtful cash flow projection models, driven by detailed assessment of business and economic conditions.
- Analyse impact of overall economic health on financial performance of businesses.
- Conduct issuer due diligence and identify significant business, industry and financial strengths and risks.
- Assist in production of internal credit / capital market memorandums that detail underwriting requests.
- Assist in production of various external client pitches.
- Prepare bond and loan market updates, which analyse credit market conditions and broader macro-economic data trends.
- Coordinate and assist in the underwriting and syndication of credit facilities, including the production of marketing materials (bank book, lender slides, rating agency presentation) and the processing of investor requirements.
- Coordinate and assist senior originators in the execution of Debt Capital Markets transactions (Bonds, USPP, Schuldschein, Private Placements, ) including handling internal processes, preparing marketing materials (investor presentations, sales memo’s, deal reviews, ) or helping with logistics (roadshow and execution calls organisation) as examples.

Educational / experience requirement
- University/MBA education level with finance or economics as major

Language proficiency
- Strong oral and written skills in English are a must
- Good oral and written skills in Dutch and/or French are also beneficial

- Analytical (financial analysis, risk analysis and cash flow modelling)
- Solid quantitative and reasoning skills
