The Saeys lab at the Inflammation Research Center (VIB), Ghent, Belgium, is offering an exciting PhD student position focused on the development of a computational cytometry detection method of measurable residual disease.

**Project overview**:
Measurable residual disease (MRD) is an important negative prognostic factor for the risk of relapse in multiple hematological malignancies and is frequently detected using flow cytometry. The aim for this position is to develop a universal computational pipeline for objective, accurate and automated detection of MRD in multiple hematological malignancies (acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), multiple myeloma (MM) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

**What you will do**:

- Integrate these algorithms in an automated pipeline and validate them on various internal and external datasets.
- Develop a graphical user interface for direct applicability in the clinic in close collaboration with laboratory specialists and clinicians

**Profile**:

- You obtained a Master's in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Engineering, Bio-engineering, or equivalent.
- Background in AI (deep learning, probabilistic modelling, generative AI) or machine learning
- Proficient in Python or R programming
- Strong communication skills in English
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
