Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Policy experience working with policy issues impacting the tech and/or financial industry within in-house corporate policy function/trade association, law firm, consultancy, government, or a think tank.

Preferred qualifications:

- A legal, economics or political science background and international experience working with high-tech regulators, standards bodies, policy-makers, and financial services industries.
- Experience in government affairs and public policy and knowledge of challenges impacting cloud computing.
- Experience with regulatory and policy engagement in the financial services industry, ideally on issues of privacy, data governance and security, and understanding and experience of the EU policymaking process.
- Expertise and understanding of the financial services industry in Europe.
- Ability to write and translate complex issues into a language suitable for non-technical audiences.

**About the job**:
Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work across regions, product areas, and functions to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives.
- Advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction.
- Help shape our regulatory strategy for Google Cloud in the area of financial services.
- Work with external stakeholders such as regulators, legislators, think tanks, industry partners, and trade associations to inform the future of cloud regulatory policy in the financial services space.
- Partner closely with internal leaders to help ensure our financial services products and services address the expectations of regulatory authorities.
