About This RoleWe are seeking an accomplished Director of Public Affairs to drive MedTech Europe's strategic engagement with European policy makers and other stakeholders. Reporting to the Director General for Corporate Affairs, this senior role offers the opportunity to shape policy positions, build influential partnerships, and position the medtech industry as a trusted leader in healthcare and beyond.This is a pivotal role for an experienced professional who can navigate complex political environments, build consensus among diverse stakeholders, and translate policy developments into actionable organisational strategy. You'll lead a team of 4 Affairs Policy experts while working in close partnership with our Communications team and across our association membership.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Stakeholder EngagementDevelop and execute comprehensive and coordinated public affairs strategiesBuild and maintain relationships with key policymakers, regulators, and stakeholdersLead coalition building and other industry associations' engagementTeam leadershipBuild a strong team culture buildingEnsure agile internal processes, in particular on horizontal topicsCross-Departmental Policy SupportProvide government affairs expertise to other policy departmentsFacilitate internal policy alignment and messaging consistencyDirect Policy Leadership Own and lead specific policy portfolios and on core horizontal issues (e.g. competitiveness)Drive strategic positions on assigned legislative/regulatory mattersRepresent MTE as primary spokesperson on designated topicsMonitoring & Intelligence Manage & coordinate MTE relationships with stakeholdersMonitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the industryProfile:EducationDegree in political science, economics, law, or a closely related fieldExperienceMinimum 10 years of professional experience in European public affairs, with 3+ years in senior leadership rolesStrong experience addressing regulatory and policy matters ideally related to healthcare/life sciencesProven track record interacting with EU and national policymakers, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholdersDemonstrated experience crafting and executing impactful policy/advocacy strategiesLeadership & Personal AttributesHighly motivated team leader capable of transforming the function as part of the Leadership teamIndependent individual striving for excellence who is also a collaborative team playerProven ability to drive strategic change and innovation in complex organisational environmentsChange agent comfortable with driving new directions and embracing evolving prioritiesTechnical ExpertiseDeep understanding of EU legislative and regulatory processesStrong network within European policy communities preferably also healthcare stakeholdersExceptional stakeholder management skills with demonstrated success engaging senior EU policy makersExperience working with European organisationsProven ability to represent organisational interests in high-stakes policy environmentsStrategic & Communication SkillsOutstanding written and verbal communication skills for diverse European audiencesAbility to translate complex EU policy developments into actionable business insightsExperience providing strategic advisory services to senior leadership and membership organisationsStrong analytical skills for assessing European political landscapesMultilingual capabilities essential for effective European engagementWhat we offerA permanent full-time work contract (39h/week) under Belgium lawCompetitive salary package including extra legal benefitsBe a representative of a well-established and innovative European industryOpportunity to be a member of a motivated, dynamic and international teamPossibility of homeworking 2 days/weekApplication instructionsInterested candidates should send a CV in English and a motivation letter to Lucie Turkova, Manager HR, at HR@medtecheurope.org with the Subject: Application – Director Public Affairs.Deadline of submission: 31 January 2026.
