Program Manager ‘coating and Shaping

You are responsible for managing this team in all its aspects: strategy development, financial management and people management. You are part of the management team (4 persons) and report to the unit manager.
- You determine and implement your team's strategy in the (medium) long term; in addition, you also contribute to determining the strategy of the unit and of VITO.
- You manage, guide and coach the employees, in order to contribute to their well-being and development in a motivating working atmosphere.
- You stimulate the research and development of new services and products. You ensure that the right competencies are built, and that the necessary infrastructure is provided.
- You are responsible for attracting research funding (Flemish, European), as well as contracts with companies. In addition, you are responsible for the follow-up and planning of expenditure and income of the current projects.
- You establish and maintain contacts with both internal and external customers from the scientific world, international institutions, industry and government.
- You are responsible for the efficient organisation of processes in your team and you draw up the annual budget.
- You have a Master's degree in engineering or (applied) sciences (materials science, physics, chemistry). An additional doctorate would be an asset.
- You have management skills (strategy, financial management and organisation/employees). You are an organisational talent, take well-considered decisions and get excited by managing and coaching employees.
- You are a person with a vision who can enthuse your team to take further steps together towards excellence and valorisation.
- You have a strong interest in the broader context: how to deal sustainably with raw materials and materials, how to realise the transition to a circular economy?
- You preferably know the different stakeholders in the Flemish, Belgian and/or European context.
- You speak fluent Dutch and English.
