Back-end Developer

In this medior-level role (3+ years of experience), you'll hit the ground running and contribute from day one to the core of our platform. This position is focused entirely on back-end development - you'll work on our Laravel-powered systems and API integrations, while any front-end work is handled by others (though full-stack skills with React are a nice plus).

Tasks
- Develop and maintain back-end services in PHP/Laravel, building new features and robust RESTful APIs that power our HR-tech platform.
- Integrate external APIs and services (from payment and payroll systems to AI tools) to expand our platform's capabilities and connect with 50+ third-party apps.
- Manage and optimize databases (MySQL) - design efficient schemas, write complex queries, and ensure data integrity and performance as our user base grows.
- Implement automated testing and CI/CD - write unit and integration tests for your code, and help maintain a smooth continuous integration/delivery pipeline for rapid, reliable deployments.
- Collaborate using GitHub - participate in code reviews, pull requests, and agile development with a small, passionate team. You'll work closely with other developers (and front-end colleagues using React) to ensure seamless end-to-end functionality.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems - monitor back-end performance, debug issues, and rapidly fix bugs to ensure a fast and error-free experience for our users.
- Contribute to technical decisions - bring your ideas to the table to improve our architecture, adopt new tools, and streamline our development process. Your enthusiasm for building and connecting services will drive innovation in our product.

**Requirements**:

- 3+ years of back-end development experience with PHP and Laravel (you can design RESTful APIs and write clean, maintainable code).
- Strong database skills with MySQL or similar relational databases (able to design schemas, craft efficient queries, and tune performance).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices - experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git) workflows, and writing unit/integration tests to ensure code quality.
- GitHub & team collaboration - comfortable working in a team using GitHub for version control, code reviews, and issue tracking.
- Problem-solving mindset - you excel at debugging and solving complex issues, and you're not afraid to dive into unfamiliar code or technologies.
- Self-driven and adaptable - able to quickly get up to speed in a fast-evolving startup environment, take ownership of projects, and adapt to changing requirements.
- Passion for building great products - you take pride in creating scalable, reliable systems that deliver real value to users.
- Bonus - Full-Stack skills: experience with front-end development (React, TypeScript, etc.) or mobile (React Native) is a plus, though not required for this role.
