Chief Accountant

As we continue to expand our R&D efforts, we are seeking a skilled and experienced **Chief Accountant** to join our dynamic team.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Financial Oversight:

- Manage and oversee all financial aspects of the company's R&D operations.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures tailored to the unique needs of an R&D environment.

2. Grant and Subsidy Management:

- Identify and assess various grants and subsidies available at both local and European levels to support R&D initiatives.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to understand project requirements and eligibility criteria for different funding opportunities.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

- Work closely with department heads to develop and manage R&D budgets.
- Provide financial insights and guidance to support strategic decision-making.
- Conduct regular financial forecasting to anticipate funding needs and opportunities.

4. Financial Reporting:

- Prepare detailed financial reports for internal stakeholders, executive management, and external funding agencies.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial statements, ensuring transparency and accountability.

5. Tax and Compliance:

- Stay updated on local and European tax regulations related to R&D activities.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors to optimize tax strategies and ensure compliance.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate financial risks.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is highly desirable.
- Extensive experience (4+ years) in a senior accounting role, preferably within an R&D environment.
- In-depth knowledge of local and European grants, subsidies, and tax incentives related to research and development.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.
- Speak English fluently and knowledge of Dutch is mandatory.
