Within the Optimisation department, the Portfolio Structuring team serves as the hub of expertise, supporting company-wide initiatives. We play a pivotal role in strategic investment initiatives, the management of long-term energy contracts, and advocating Luminus' position on market design developments with key stakeholders. As a member of our team, you as an Energy Optimisation Expert, will lead the economic analysis and modeling of various business cases for Luminus. This includes projects such as CCGTs, OCGTs, grid-scale batteries, onshore and offshore wind, among others. Additionally, you will manage the structuring, negotiation, and commercial oversight of asset-backed trading contracts associated with these projects. **Your Daily Job** You develop and maintain economic valuation models for various types of upstream investments within Luminus: - You create and update business cases for several asset classes valued in electricity, gas, CO2, and ancillary services markets over a medium to long-term horizon, extending up to the year 2050. - You validate economic evaluations for these assets within the "Investment Committee," collaborating closely with the Production and Finance departments. - You structure, negotiate, and oversee asset-backed trading contracts (renewable or flexible assets) linked to these projects. You monitor and analyze the implementation of support mechanisms, including the Green Certificate mechanism, Contracts for Difference (CfD), and the Capacity Remuneration Mechanism (CRM) in collaboration with the Production, Corporate Affairs, and Finance teams. - You evaluate the economic profitability of new and existing thermal assets, batteries, and other resources within the context of CRM, taking into account the impact of evolving market rules. - You provide economic and optimization expertise in discussions concerning support for renewable energy assets, such as the Green Certificate Mechanism and Contracts for Difference. You contribute by actively participating in establishing assumptions for long-term market price forecasting within the EDF Group. - You engage in various EDF working groups that focus on market fundamentals. - You provide valuable insights into the Belgian electricity market, ancillary services market, and support schemes. You contribute to other tasks within the Portfolio Structuring team: - You utilize your market expertise to inform decision-making and guide cross-functional strategic initiatives within Luminus. - You conduct research and innovation projects focused on leveraging the flexibility of new technologies such as electrical vehicles, home batteries, heat pumps, hydrogen, as well as the development of microgrids and P2P communities. - You monitor the evolution of market rules alongside your colleagues in the Regulatory Affairs department.
