Director – Energy Sourcing

Overview Join to apply for the Director – Energy Sourcing & Renewables role at SLR Consulting . The Energy & Emissions Excellence (EEE) team, part of SLR’s Energy Advisory practice, provides advisory and implementation support services to energy offtakers, developers and investors. The role is part of a European‑wide team that collaborates across offices in Europe and globally on a daily basis. Responsibilities Advise clients on Energy Sourcing & Procurement Strategy: provide intelligence on markets and regulation, formulate tailored sourcing strategies across multiple European markets, identify tariff optimisation opportunities, assess value potential for flexibility, and define the role of electricity procurement. Lead Renewables & Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs): assess and define renewables sourcing targets, evaluate sourcing instruments, lead tender lifecycle, support PPA structuring and negotiation, and advise on renewable certificate and carbon offset management. Provide Risk Management & Budget Oversight: advise on energy risk management models, hedging strategy, and strengthen digital capabilities to monitor energy expenditures and performance against budget. Drive Transformation & Digital Enablement: translate strategies into operating model changes, evaluate operating model options, drive stakeholder alignment, and advise on software capabilities and integration in the Energy Trading & Risk Management domain. Practice Development Define SLR’s growth strategy and structure collaboration with internal teams and external partners. Lead development of new value propositions and build a high‑performing team. Improve methodologies and codify knowledge and training programs. Business & Client Development Identify client opportunities, define commercial playbooks, and drive client acquisition. Lead proposal lifecycle, pricing, and risk management. Grow client relationships and cross‑sell opportunities. Program & Project Delivery Manage portfolio of programs and projects: planning, risk, issue management, and financials. Build stakeholder relationships and manage expectations. People Development Mentor managers and provide coaching and feedback. Lead talent recruiting and retention. Share domain expertise across the EEE team. Qualifications Minimum 12 years of professional experience, including 8 years in energy sourcing & procurement or related advisory. Demonstrated track record of managing energy portfolios, defining renewable roadmaps, and negotiating energy/renewables contracts. Experience in procurement processes and contract management. Consultancy experience with strong problem‑solving, structuring, and storytelling skills. Experience selling and scaling consulting services. Experience managing teams of at least 5 people. Strong negotiation, facilitation and stakeholder management skills. Fluent in English (C1 level) and at least one of German, Dutch, or French. Self‑motivated, collaborative, and able to work in international cross‑functional teams.
