POLITICO Europe is looking for an experienced Energy reporter to join our team covering energy policy. In Brussels and across Europe, governments are determining how to power society for decades to come. It’s a pathway filled with thorny questions: Does Europe only buy energy from allies? What type of fossil fuels should it buy? How can it build renewable energy locally? And the backdrop behind every question is troubling: Russia’s war in Ukraine continues, power bills remain high and economic clashes with the U.S. and China are intensifying.
POLITICO is looking for a reporter who can write agenda-setting stories and break news in the field of EU energy policy. The reporter may be asked to follow anything from the EU’s renewable energy targets to its plans to quit Russian energy.
The position is a full-time role based in Brussels.
**Role and responsibilities**
- We’re looking for a confident source builder: you will be competing in a space where sourcing is vital and breaking news is the primary goal. Your reporting and analysis will define how energy policy is dealt with by political leaders, industry giants and others.
- You will co-author our must-read daily newsletter Morning Energy and Climate.
- You will contribute to POLITICO's wider range of platforms, including free-to-read coverage.You will represent POLITICO at events.
**Qualifications**
- At least five years’ newsroom experience
- Proven ability to write clearly and accurately in English on deadline
- Proven ability to break news and a passion for giving readers inside information they need to know and can’t get elsewhere
- Willingness to work flexibly within a demanding, often fast-moving reporting job
