Internship 2025-2026: R&d of a Custom Api for Monitoring a Kubernetes/docker Environment

**What you will do**
The goal of this internship assignment is to explore how a Kubernetes and/or Docker environment can be effectively monitored using a custom-built API. You will investigate existing monitoring options and, based on this research, develop a proof-of-concept (POC) for a custom API that collects and exposes relevant statistics and status information from the container environment.
The monitoring solution must align with the current and future monitoring architecture, which includes Broadcom DX NetOps as the main platform for network and infrastructure monitoring. The Mediation Manager currently acts as the main integration point for custom device plugins. Additionally, Kafka is already supported for data export and is expected to support data import into DX NetOps in the near future. Visualization tools like Grafana can also be used to display the collected metrics.
The internship combines research with practical implementation so that the result not only provides insight into available options but also delivers a working prototype that is future-proof and can be easily integrated with Kafka and DX NetOps as these capabilities become available.

- Team player, with a passion for IT; particularly skilled in XML configuration and scripting in Groovy or Java
- Eager to learn and open to feedback
- Driven and enthusiasticCommunicative, both orally and in writing
- Creative problem solver
- Experience with container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker), API development and programming languages such as Python, Go, or Node.js is preferred
- Basic understanding of networking and message buses such as Kafka, and familiarity with visualization tools like Grafana, are considered a plus.
