Introduction

We are looking for a Category Manager Plastics to join our Strategic Supply Team at Donaldson.

This team works from our European Headquarters in Leuven and has the option to work partially from home. Our current team exist out of 2 commodity and 2 category managers. They work closely with our teams of supply chain, R&D, costing and manufacturing.

As a Category Manager, you will be focused on all strategic dimensions of the concerned direct material suppliers. For example, creating strategies on supply chain optimization, contract management, on-hand stock reduction, lead -time reduction, D.P.O and O.T.D improvement and more.

**Responsibilities**:
As category manager, you will:
- Create a pipeline of cost reduction opportunities and deliver yearly cost reductions in line with established target.- Strive to contractually agree favorable economic conditions to Donaldson in terms of volume incentive agreement, index based price management agreements, consignment stocks, payment terms- Lead and execute Category Strategy while coordinating with Project Procurement colleagues, Plant Supply Chain, Engineering.- Create, lead and monitor projects and tactics to successfully implement continuous improvement opportunities.- Manage Strategic & Approved Suppliers- Monitor different data and report on progress made- Investigate procurement market to consolidate existing suppliers, to identify favorable new sources, to identify new technologies and to enhance sustainability of the supply chain- Be reactive and proactive regarding risk mitigation and contingency actions in the critical supply chains.

Profile

Degree and Experience:
- 5 years or more of experience in Strategic Procurement- Bachelor or Master degree related to Supply Chain, Engineering (material, chemical, mechanical) or similar

Skill sets:
- Knowledge and job experience related to plastic injection process and resins is a strong plus.- Experience in an international and industrial sector like the automotive sector is a plus- Fluent English (written and spoken), other languages like German and Italian are a plus- Technical:
- Strong technical affinity or comprehension, able to read technical drawings and interface with Engineering department.- Procurement:
- Able to develop and deploy own supply base strategy, negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders, project management, contract draft and negotiation.- Analytical:
- Ability for cost analysis, cost breakdowns and return on investment.

Personality:
- Likes to look at the bigger picture with a helicopter overview and a lean mindset- Able to work in an autonomous matter within a Global team / organization.- Communicative and likes bringing different stakeholders together for a project- Likes bringing new initiatives and improvements to current way of working- Willingness to travel 15% to 25% of the time to Suppliers and Donaldson Plants within Europe. (driver’s license B required)
