**Main functions of the post**:
a. providing comprehensive and effective IT helpdesk services to staff members;
b. maintaining and updating IT assets and registry, with a primary focus on user devices (laptops, mobile phones, displays, docking stations, printers, etc.)
c. maintenance of network infrastructure (servers, printers, switches, etc.)
**Other Duties and Responsibilities**:
The IT Assistant reports the Senior ICT Officer, under the overall guidance of the Director of Operations, and shall be responsible for (in addition to the above-mentioned):
- focal point for IT hardware (including servers, user devices, mobile devices, etc)
- handling of repairs, troubleshooting, upgrade, replacements and purchases
- administration, upgrade and maintenance of Windows network and servers
- focal point for key/badge issuance and return
- ensuring that EED’s information assets and sensitive data are properly protected;
- undertaking research, consulting with IT and information security counterparts, preparing recommendations and other IT and information security relevant documents and files;
- administration of on-premise Intranet solution
- performing other tasks for the Senior ICT Officer as required;

**Key eligibility and selection criteria**
a. Conditions for eligibility:
- be a national or having permanent residence permit of one of the EU/EEA countries or the United Kingdom;
- be entitled to his/her full rights as a citizen;
- have completed any obligations imposed on him/her by the laws concerning military service;
- be physically fit to perform his/her duties.
b. Essential selection criteria
Level and type of formal education:
- degree in IT or related discipline
- Professional experience:_
- at least two years of proven full-time professional experience relevant to this position.
- Knowledge of Windows Active Directory would be an advantage.
- Functional competencies: _
- full working knowledge of English
- Experience of project management would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with domain controller setup, group policy, database servers.
- ability to keep full confidentiality about all assigned tasks and related documentation as well as capacity to exercise confidentiality, discretion and tact when dealing with diverse groups of people;
- high degree of communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills;
- ability to develop strong working relationships internally and externally at all levels;
- high personal and professional culture;
- ability to work in a multicultural environment;
- readiness for duty travel.

**Benefits**
EED is not an international organisation or EU institution and its employment contracts are fully based on Belgian Employment Law.
Indicative NET salary is around €2,450 per month with standard benefits foreseen under Belgian labour law (meal vouchers, 13th month salary etc.), with additional medical insurance.
Working place: EED Secretariat located in the centre of Brussels, Belgium.
