In the position of HSE - Engineer you are looking for continuous improvements in the areas of safety, health and environment in order to take the HSE culture to an even higher level. Your extensive knowledge enables you to generate pragmatic solutions and advise colleagues properly. You report to the HSE manager Benelux.

**Your responsibilities**:

- You are the first point of contact on HSE related topics for your assigned locations in Belgium.
- You ensure the follow-up of the RI&E and keep it up to date.
- You maintain contacts with various government and other external agencies / consultancies.
- You develop, maintain and follow up the ABB - HSE policy plans (incl KPIs).
- You manage the HSE Management system, thinking of the ISO 14001 and or ISO 45001. And assists in performing audits, controls, risk analyses of safety and environmental instructions. Staying informed about the standards and laws regarding environment, environment, use of chemical products (also in consultation with Procurement).
- You create awareness in the HSE field among colleagues by giving toolboxes. Responsible for providing personal protective equipment.
- You lead internal HSE related projects.
- You are responsible for preparing and distributing various safety reports such as the environmental annual report, the monthly report of the safety committee.
- You will be responsible for providing internal safety training for employees to continuously maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness within the organization.
- You are responsible for coaching employees and supervisors on the shop floor to improve HSE behavior.
- You act as FAFS coordinator for the site (managing emergency and first aid teams).
- You organize environmental and safety studies and training.
- You manage the use of chemical products.
- You are the contact point for external partners (inspections, external service for prevention & protection at work, recognized inspection bodies, security firm, etc.).
- Provide all machines and workstations with up-to-date work instructions (NL/F/E) to deliver quality and safe work.
- You support multidisciplinary projects of R&D and Service (local and global) on HSE related questions.
- You assist staff members in investigating accidents and incidents, determining root causes and recommending appropriate preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
- Willingness to obtain the necessary prevention officer certifications. This is a requirement under Belgian laws and regulations.

**Your background**:

- Diploma Prevention Advisor level 1 (Belgium) or level 2 with relevant experience, additional environmental background is a plus and 3-5 years of experience in the HSE field (BE)
- Proven track record on HSE projects and FAFS teams
- Knowledge and experience to work within interdisciplinary R&D & Service projects ensuring HSE aspects
- Knowledge and experience in Belgian legislation on well-being at work
- Knowledge and experience in ISO management systems
- In addition, you possess:

- A good solution-oriented approach with strong written and oral communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- You have experience with management systems
- Good digital skills (eg MS Office)
- Personal VCA-Vol certificate, or willing to obtain this within a few months
