Business Unit Manager

**About the job**:
The **Operations Director** takes care of all day-to-day tasks and responsibilities to ensure smooth operations for all business activities. You will manage the team leaders, the project managers, as well as the office support staff. The Operations Director’s work location is Herentals. You are expected to be present in the office 4 to 5 days a week.

You will be responsible for 40 FTE (8 direct reports) including HR, Finance, and Project Managers, and will report directly to 2 VPs.

**The main tasks and responsibilities are**:

- You are the single point of contact for all employees. You set up KPIs, personnel goals, and take care of talent development.
- Setting up HR roadmap, policies, and guidelines in collaboration with HR.
- Staffing the department in balance with project requirements (project forecasts and operational needs).
- You set up a clear, future-oriented vision to continuously improve the way of work (internal collaboration, deliverables, lead times) and strive for operational excellence.
- Leading and directing all teams and internal disciplines (E&I, Cranes, PLC) towards a common goal and success.
- You interact with different material suppliers and discuss pricing, stock, and deliveries, supported by the operational support manager.
- Reporting all important topics and issues to the 2 VPs and/or key stakeholders to build a trustful and well-working information exchange network amongst all stakeholders.
- Representing the department in different stakeholder meetings and maintaining short communication lines with HQ, project managers, and operational sites.
- Tracking the progress, budget, and quality of all running projects worldwide.
- Responsible for all business administration (supported by office manager and service in HQ) including general contracting, SLA, and support contracts.
- Planning and anticipation of all future planned projects.
- Reporting monthly financial figures to HQ and projects (together with finance administration).
- Full P&L responsibility. Set out AOP, budgeting for projects, financial follow-up of all projects, and internal cash flow (keeping track of invoices, payments, delays, etc., together with finance administration).

**Whom we are looking for**:
You have:

- A Master’s degree in engineering, industrial engineering, project management, or business administration with 10 years of experience.
- Affinity with automated warehouses (conveyors, automatic high-bay cranes, monorails, and other MHE equipment) or a sincere interest.
- A strong people orientation, with at least 5 years of experience in people management (ideally in a technical or engineering environment, both directly and indirectly).
- Experience in project management (international, IT/technical or engineering projects) with an interest in automation and machine safety.
- A good understanding of general business topics (finance, reporting, HR, purchasing, etc.).
- Punctuality and a willingness to take up business administration tasks.
- Leadership skills.
- Experience with diverse, international project teams is a plus.
- Structural thinking and organizational skills.
- Performance-driven and goal-oriented.
- Professional communication skills at all levels. Fluent in English and Dutch.
- Experience with ERP systems like Odoo and/or knowledge concerning general CE machinery requirements is a plus.
