Senior Scientist

Johnson & Johnson is hiring a Senior Scientist, Discovery Chemistry to join our team in Beerse, Belgium.

Key Responsibilities:

- Further design, develop and optimize a highly efficient purification workflow for analysis and purification of compounds from medicinal chemistry projects particularly in peptide synthesis singletons and libraries utilizing reversed phase HPLC-MS.
- Maintain high level of productivity in the laboratory setting and significant personal laboratory presence with strong adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
- Serve as a scientific expert, optimize workflows for maximum efficiency and deliver fast-turnaround purification services tailored to peptide needs.
- Ensure optimal interaction/communication and provide updates to Discovery Chemistry leadership.
- Collaborate closely with other experts in the team and across different sites, able to keep a global focus in a highly matrixed environment.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- PhD degree in (analytical) chemistry or engineering, or a level of experience considered equivalent to an experienced PhD trained person

Experience and Skills:
Required:

- A minimum of 2 years of relevant analytical and purification experience is required. PhD degree preferred.
- In-depth knowledge and extensive experience in chromatography. Expert knowledge of modern analytical and purification techniques, such UPLC-MS and mass-directed preparative RP-HPLC.
- Experience with lab automation and compound distribution logistics related to peptide projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative, innovative solutions and meeting project objectives are required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in English both verbal and in writing.
- Excellent collaboration skills
