We are looking for a** Research Scientist**who is innovative and agile to join us in our** Neurodegeneration**group based in** Braine I’Alleud, Belgium.**

**About the role**

The Neuroscience Department at UCB is searching for a highly motivated individual with extensive experience in cell and molecular biology to join our team focused on drug discovery in the field of Neurodegeneration.

**Who you’ll work with**

Reporting to a Senior Principal Scientist, you will be a key contributor within a small team of Scientists and Technicians.

**What you’ll do**
- Independent development and implementation of novel cellular assays to support therapeutic projects.
- Independent design and execution of experiments to support target validation and mechanism of action studies.
- Clear and concise presentation of data at internal and external meetings.
- Maintaining a current and continuously updated knowledge of the latest literature, developments and technologies in the field, including through attendance at external conferences.

**Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills**
- PhD. (or equivalent) in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or related field with up to 3 years post-graduate training.
- Expertise in cell and molecular biology. Experience in either Neuroscience, sequencing, chemical biology or gene editing are a strong plus.
- Experience in advanced microscopy and high content imaging. Experience in high throughput data handling is a strong plus.
- Ability to critically analyze own data, troubleshoot problems, and seek solutions with mínimal oversight.
- Ability to independently learn and rapidly integrate novel technologies.
- Demonstrated productivity evidenced by publication in high quality peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
